New Theme Music
« on: October 19, 2005, 05:47:59 pm »
God, does anyone else feels.. bothered  :o about the new theme music? I can't stand it. That guy who says "Gaming News." and "Gaming Reviews." I just can't stand. This, by itself, made Gaming Steve drop like a rock on my favorite  video game podcast list. Now I am going to get a lot of people calling me a jerk, but at least I told my view about the music.

I think its a cool change.  It something that you won't hear on every video game podcast like that pacman sound bit.

Im going reserve my judgement on the new music, I think it will grow on me. It would be cool if Steve could fit the pacman sounds in somewhere, they provided the feel that this is a videogame podcast, plus it gave it that underground feel.

We'll see where this goes...

It's a bit over the top when it is used for EVERY section.  Like "GamingNews!" "SporeTalk!", etc.  Sounds a bit silly but on the whole i think it's a nice little addition.

Now I am going to get a lot of people calling me a jerk, but at least I told my view about the music.

Actually, in the thread for the episode the music premiered in then a majority of the people agree with you. The general feeling was that the music may be okay, but it doesn't fit a video game show in any way. Especially considering the other pac-man theme just rolled so perfectly as an intro. Personally i absolutely hate it because i feel the music is ruining the flow of the show. The themesong is so pumped up and obnoxious that you expect some loudmouth host to sommersault out of your headphones. But instead you get steve who seems so mellow and subdued.

Anyway, i'm sure most of us would prefer things to go back to normal, but the bottom line is that its gamingsteves show and he paid a ton of money for it so its not going anywhere. I just fast-forward through the music, but even that is a pain because i end up missing half the show since my ipods wheel is so sensetive.

Not sure if anyone else is aware but the person who did the theme music is member of this forum.  I still think its good. Steve has already said he cannot use the pacman music anymore so we have to get used to the new one. By the end of the year I think it will sound normal.

I do like the music, just one concern. You talk for X minutes and then suddenly there the music is there again. It kind of interupts the flow. My suggestion is to have music in the background when you talk, that way the whole podcast transitions smoother.

My thoughts.

Personally, I think the new music and what-not is over the top.  I definatly respect that it probably took someone a good deal of time to make but, it doesn't seem to fit the show at all.  The show has a laid-back feel and that's what I enjoy as I think many people do.

Good idea. Maybe the music could start before the end of the talking in the background and transition in louder for the next segment.

Uggg... You either like it or you don't. There's nothing to debate here. Steve's podcast is free. Move along...

But since we're on the subject hey Steve what do you think about doing a jazz version? That's definitely your personality. :D

Gaming Steve Episode 22 was the first show, and first podcast, I have ever listened to so I didn't know what to expect. After listening to 22, 23 and 24 before all the others it was the pac-man intro that sounded weird - but I did like the way it was in the background while steve was talking.

This is the first 'new' podcast that I've had a chance to listen to. At first I thought I was listening to the Electric Company (I think I just dated myself). It isn't to my taste, but then again, fast forward still seems to work. ;)

I've only recently started to listen to Steve's podcast and I have to say that I really like the music. I LIKE the fact that it splits up the flow of the talk as it is better marks the different sections.

That said when I FIRST listent to Steve's show I heard this really cool sounding music, nice and flashy, Steve was introduced and then ...... OMG who is this closet nerd  :o   (Steve's voice was not at all what I was expecting)
I think I'd changed my mind within about 5 minutes though...I'd agree with Steve's own introduction, it's the home of intelligent gaming discussion.

I really like the music as well, and it really does grow on you after a while. I tried listening to some older podcasts, and now the pac-man into seems boring. The new music is great, especially the ending ones.

I like it, the music is top notch.  I do think the intro is a little long but the announcer is cool.  I also listen to the end to hear his last one liner, some are pretty funny.

I actually disagree, I like the pause - its a smooth segway to the next part of the show.

Exactly. It took a little getting used to because it's not my type of thing, but i really do love the intro music and look forward to hearing what new honor Steve gets each week (ex. "The man with a bigger sword thatn Cloud"). Keep it up Steve!

After all, it is your show. It is just as easy to skip over it if they don't want to hear it.

Wow, this makes me realize how long it's been since I was an active user here.

well, this is my first post, so, hello. second, i'd like to say that music is one of the biggest parts of my life, so i'd like to think i have a fairly knowledgeable opinion on this matter and i believe that the music you have now is perfect in my opinion because its pretty recognizable once you hear it, and i think its pretty funny. however, if you can find something you think would be better i'd be interested in hearing it

It seems like all the other podcast i've heard all have little techno/electronica music for intro's and outro's. They all sound nice in their own right but when everyone else has a simular sounding music it's not so great. what is that quote, "if everyone is special, then on one is"
