Jennifer (and others with similar views on the content uploaded): To answer your question, no. Not everyone can do it like you do (nor should they, in my oppinion).

I realise that a lot of people here, myself included, have a lot of time an energy invested in this game (even before launch), but we also have to accept the fact that to a large portion of people this is just that: a game. A game you can do what you like in, and a game where you don't answer to anyone (other than EA if you make "anatomy"). If you don't feel like putting tags in, why should you have to? If you don't have a lot of imagination or don't feel like adding a description, why should you have to? Not everyone likes writing, and not everyone has any interest vested in the background of their creatures. Some just want to have fun with the editor and that's that.
I've found myself not wanting to add descriptions to all of my 100 creatures, because most of them were just made for fun, to play around with the editor. They were not a science project. The few of them that WERE dear to me got tags, and descriptions.

I used to be puritan like yourself, but pardon me for being blunt: This is what sporecasts are for.
If you are annoyed by people doing silly things, if you are annoyed by stupid names, if you are annoyed by a lack of tags - then stop don't set it to download everything. Because like it or not this is a GAME, and a lot of people will treat it as such.

If you are displeased with adverts, silly names and so on, then you either hand pick everything you want in your game, set up sporecasts to people you know will deliver the high quality content you want, or simply delete the "offenders" from your game once you come across them.

If you accept all contents then you'll get the half-arsed and stupid stuff too, and it will always be created because this is a game appealing to millions of people. Not just an elite of artists, writers, scientists and spore fans who's been there since 05.

The Only 2 things i hate are Sporn, and Total Ripping offs,

I mean, with names?
There are probably even 6 year olds playing!

Different languages?
The World has many countries other than america.

When People DONT CAPATILIZE CREATURE NAMES?!
I am shocked that someone hates that.
People Arent perfect!

Edits of Maxis Creatures?
Some People Edit them,  yes. But hey. You cant expect everyone to have a largei magination, plus some people see tricks, so they study them in maxis creatures!

You are so correct. It's so annoying how people get so picky. Not everyone is perfect!

Having said that, I suppose galaxies containing masterful races that destroy others genocidally for displeasing aesthetics does add a sense of flavour to things.  ;)

Funny, I just watched Hot Fuzz yesterday, reminds me of this.

"We had to wipe out the Synocast species!  Its laugh was atrocious!!"

As far as my own two cents on this - if you didn't laugh out loud at the absurdity of the 200 foot tall chair attacking grandpas in wheelchairs in the PC Gamer review, and don't look forward to that in your game, then just block it.

I personally can't wait until I see the absurd creatures fighting it out in my universe.  How awesome would it be to get chased down and almost destroyed by a race of whack-a-moles?

I'd love to see a swarm of grandmas take down a giant man eating carnivorous beast.

I hate those spam creatures too but you can't really be mad at an average spore user for that, because those are oppertunistic people that will infiltrate anything they can get their hands on. If they can abuse any system on the internet to spam: they live.

For inanimate objects, I don't know. I think walking chairs are kinda cartoony and funny. Somebody here in Belgium made this very cool saxophone in the creature editor that's just marvelous and is indeed a worthy "saxophone creature". You can make comics with that. Then there's other "art" creatures that I like less, just because I get the feeling that some want to just make monuments and world objects and stuff: instead of creatures. Ofcourse that's their right but that triggers the "too much" switch in me.

For the sporn , again: It's not because you build a creature with slightly erotic properties that you need to be seen as a pervert. The game is rated 12+ here in europe, yes. It's also a bit the responsibility of the parents to explain stuff when their kid sees penis monsters, and not always react on it with negativity. There's a ban option in the game for something.

I'd like to believe that making erotic forms without directly accentuating a gender part (male or female) should be able to be posted. On the other hand: It's when people start making an army of intimate parts which can be seen as questionable because you reduce a person in respectfulness. Besides, Isn't artful nakedness something that can be beautiful without seeing it as someone who is ready to youknowwhat...?

3. nonsense creatures (foot on head, arm sticking out of bum).

5. creatures with foreign language in thier names (de toilete ist kaput, bojure ghesma bentolina).

3.) Guilty. Are you the creator? How are you to know what a Nonsense creature is? It doesn't fit your aesthetic, fine. If it makes sense to me, if it works, if it animates well, or if it's particularly funny... than it should be fine. Just ignore or ban it.

5.) Guilty, as is everyone. English is a foreign language to those people. What's wrong with having a name that isn't in English if the creator isn't from an English-speaking country. Heck, I used a different language to name one my creatures. I used a Nordic Language to name a creature before, because it fit. In fact the English language is comprised of nothing but "foreign" words. The etymology of most words leads them to Germanic/Nordic languages and it's derivatives, the Greek language, and/or Latin and the other Romantic languages. Deal with it... people are from other countries and speak other languages... la-dee-freakin'-da. If you demand that they stop using their native language, they should have the right to demand the same for you.

You know, more than any type of creature, it's elitists that really piss me off.  Among other things, Spore is one of the first games in a long time that's primary focus is on user-generated content.  I think it defeats the purpose to have user-generated content and then turn around and get all snooty because someone's content isn't up to your standards.  Deliberately awful creatures, I can understand, but if a person is honestly trying, I'll always respect that.

My feelings are, well, I've been a member of the Doom community for a few years now, and of course Doom is another game that is heavily centered on user-generated content (mainly levels).  The thing is, there was a situation wherein everybody started out terribly at first - it was completely new territory.  However, over the years, people got better and better at it.  And no one was ever really discouraged, because we had all been there, struggling to make our first level.  I think Spore is a lot like that, at least in that one of the goals, as Will Wright has said, is to encourage people who don't think they have any creative talent to experiment and explore so they can see that yes, in fact, they do.

Ultimately, what it boils down to, is even if someone doesn't start off with incredible skills, they shouldn't be discouraged from trying.  You never know if discouraging a person might lead you to missing out on some really terrific creations later on as they develop their skills.  And beyond that, think about what you may be missing out by limiting creativity.  I mean, it's that experimentation with unconventional designs that leads people to discover new and interesting ways to build creatures.  But mostly, it's just that this game is all about the community, about user-generated content, and if you're going to be all snooty, you might as well just not even bother, and stick to games with solely professionally-generated content.

Ah, Hot Fuzz.  ;D

Well, of course the Synocasts had to go. It was for the Greater Good.

"The Greater Good!"

Then Simon Pegg and Nick Frost can come and save the galaxy or something, great times.

Anyway. Isn't it that the most popular critters would get pollinated more? Then again, a lot of the more popular critters are inanimate objects. It's all down to your perspective and whatever you want really.
If you peruse my things, you get POINTS!

Only trouble is, they're Whose Line Is It Anyway points, which are infamously not worth anything.

These things are just stupid.

Anything showing a lack of effort is annoying, but what really gets me are ones that animate really poorly.  There is a test mode for a reason. That said, I don't really hate people for it or anything, I just don't like it.  Although if I get a really horrid animating creature I'll probubly ban the creator to avoid getting more like it.

Or this 4 leg guy.

I dislike creatures like that. Yeah, it's creative...but too many right angle for my liking.

And I really hating objects. I don't want to see....I dunno, a dinner plate in my game. If someone wants it as a spaceship, fine, but as a creature? err...no.
They're collectible! Sorta...

So, people in France, Russia, or Spain need not upload to the Sporepedia at all unless they can do it in English? I find this a little unfair.
