Galaxy Plans
« on: March 23, 2005, 07:01:04 pm »
Are their any of us that would rather not demolish every race we embark upon? What are some ideas for what to do with your Galaxy?

Me? Enslave half to make life better for the other half.

Mummy, why am I short and cuboid shaped? Is it a result of millions of years of evolution which have taught us that this is the best shape for survival.
No Timmy, its so our god Scipion can stuff us into tanks easily. Now go to sleep, for tommorow we must go and hunt pornography-on-legs

I'll probably go with whatever the character of my creatures seems best for.

Make 'em first and see what happens.

My plan is too to plant colonies and (hopefully) the ufo will have vehicle transportation as an option.  Give them a few uber military vehicles and let it grow without contacting the planet with the unidentified civilisation.. compete I geuss. When i get bigger then them I destroy or conscript them:)  If they outgrow me destroy them with other world reinforcements!

Or purposely fill my universe with hostiles and confine myself to a single system for a LOOONG time... then try to take over after they have advanced.

OR
play startrek and be nice to everyone... avoiding contact with them until they are ready, estabolishing small outposts to monitor them on their planet to be removed if ever discovered...

I like the idea of trying to be at peace with everyone as the game puts content in places that I'm not aware of trying to track them down and deal with them.  Finally a game that *actually* promotes exploration.

This is of course assuming the galaxy will mature in areas I'm not in, hoping that they can travel planets beyond the original.

Also an idea planet hell( not all of these features are known to be possible):

One race you just pick on to no end from dawn until dusk!

Rules: you never destroy them but they never suceed either.  Perform genetic experiments on them in broad daylight.  Pick up and drop very hostile low intelligence creatures to keep em thinned out.

Kill any single sporean that wonders off.

Regularly destroy non essential buildings

Pick them up and drop them on strange worlds..  Then when they addapt bring them back to a newly destroyed city.

Drop a military vehicle vastly superior to their defenses and let it go for a while.

Begin replacing them with creatures that look exactly alike but have opposite personalities, preferably at night:)

Use your ufo to play rap music at full galactic speaker volume

Dump your trash on their planet

so to fix it you post in a spam topic that it is spam. hmmm.

That aside I was perfectly on topic, I said I would subject my sporeans to radiation, even if i must syphon it off from my ufo's nuke.  I also requested in game currence for my stolen IP... you might consider this the first out of game currency transaction, you should be proud....  You just witnessed the birth of an MMORPG. I'd like to try an incredibly war like race. Than after that a race so saucey they will convince you it's a good idea to let them take control of your planet, just cause their arguments are that good.

I said no wrong of the British. I'm fully aware of this forum's British members.

That and I'm curious about visiting England someday. So the British are cool by me.

Do you remember in one of those Douglas Adams books, "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" series, there was that one race that evolved on a world in a nebula, so they assumed they were alone in the universe. Then when they discovered space travel they were so shocked they imidiately decided to destroy all life in the universe......I'm going to blow up stars.......all of them....all your All your base are belong to us

I've given this subject some thought.. Usually when I want to make up plans for things like this, I end up walking the dog at night, contemplating the possibilities.. (I did the same for Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and Civilization III) For Spore, and the Galactic aspect, I think my approach would be to build colonies in the solar systems around my home world to expand further in all directions after that has been completed. If that would involve conquest of certain planets and destruction of certain species, so be it.. My beings will submit the galaxy to their Empire.. I doubt I will use the Planet Buster missile thingy, because that would obviously render the planet useless.. The only reason to use it eventually is if I'd encounter an advanced civilization that might threaten my power. Other than that, I plan on slowly conquering the galaxy.. *Maniacal laughter*

My race is going to want all things in balance, or tranquil. That doesn't necessarily mean they won't be violent, just that if they find a situation that is unbalanced, they will fix it with whatever means necessary. Hopefully through this they can balance out the entire galaxy and stop all wars, forming a utopia of sorts. For example, if we came across a planet that had two sides fighting each other in a devastating war for both sides, we will crossbreed both sides, destroy the establishments of the other sides, and implant the hybrid species into the world. Because of the concentration on balance all of the buildings will have soft angles and be perfectly symmetrical from any angle. I'm still working on it but that sounds like my ideal race.

For my kobolds, I think a policy of isolation and fearful cowering will suffice until I feel that my planet is sufficiently advanced and then...colonization.  See just how many planets can fall to the Squeaking Swarm!  Any gnomes who get in their way will for the base for a giant Tower of Flesh newly plagiarized from Eternal Darkness.  For a serious game, lots of experimental breeding.  Horrible, horrible breeding.  -leeman

Ergonians, as I've named my race, will most likely get themselves as "Galaxywide Peacekeepers". That means, that I drop some colonies of other races I found at point A to planet which has another race. Let's call this planet point B. First, those who come from planet A will most likely be somewhat disoriented, and go exploring their new planet. Meanwhile, I'd go and give some weapons technology (if that is possible, that is) to those who inhabited point B in first place. When they encounter, I'd guess that point B inhabitants would get REALLY scared, and shed some destruction onto those, who came from point A (or to be exact, cargo bay of my UFO). Later on, when it seems that those from point A are losing badly, I'd intervene, probably eradicating one of those species.
I hope that it's possible to do what I just wrote.

I'm going to design a race of squat, hairy, ugly troglodites. They'll spread across the galaxy, moving into nice planets, trashing the place, and then moving on, leaving a desolate landscape of burned out tralers and lawn junk collections. Oh, and if they bump into any natives purdier than them, huh huh huh <--(sorry, redneck impersonation) They'll genetically manipulate them until they're even more hidious than them.

My race shall be peaceful hippy-animals. them, their vehicles, buildings, and of course the ufo, shall be tye-dyed (presuming that is till in) and organic/lifelike/alive (presuming that is also in).  The sight of snything created by them shall bring groups of foreign creatures into huge circles singing Turn Turn Turn!  They shall help make all of the warring nations make peace.  Then give them pot.  But make peace first.

I think i'll make my guys kinda a galaxy wide scavenger. Look for planets where two races have nearly blugended each other to death, swoop and and finish them both off or enslave them.  The other option is something like STARGATE style with the Gould or however you spell it.

Pretend to be all powerful and whatnot to less advanced races, then make sure they stay inferior and have them build stuff for me.  And fly around in big pyramids.  Seriously, talk about taking a theme to far.  Like a pyrmaid is a very elusive shape.

mm, It's spelled Goa'uld btw, but that would be REALLY cool. Until those pesky taurians start gathering some sort of alliance against anyone who's playing on the Goa'uld part.. O well, life sucks in general anyway.
But that would be quite cool as multiplayer scenario, won't ya agree? Other is Goa'uld, other's SG and with that whole Earth...
This also brings on the question: can our races be parasites? would be cool just to attach my lil' thingies onto bigger creatures and step by step take over it's every function... heh

so do i doubt that, but still, would be cool, wouldn't it? You could have plethora of creatures as "your" creatures thru parasites :D

It's very unlikely parasites of any kind will be in Spore, but it's a cool idea anyway. You could probably approximate it but you'd need to use your imagination, maybe you could choose a generic human-like species and then evolve them so they look like they caught Headcrabs. ;) Then go on to make their buildings look like human buildings that have been taken over by some freaky biomass or something.

Maybe in a future expansion they'll add an ability to 'hijack' another species, say in the creature phase or something, maybe it'd bring you into the creature editor when you do it and you'd attach your old creature to the new one by a joint that you choose. Very unlikely tha such a fully fleshed-out feature would be in the core game at all.

But maybe in the core game, they won't have parasites but will have foreseen that some people will be playing, see someone else's critters, and want to be them. So they'll allow you to abandon the old critter and become another one in the world, and you could develop that creature from that point forward.

Or you might just change your creature to look like the other creature, then singlemindedly annihilate all of the original species, and say that you took them over. ;)

Edit: Oh right, my galaxy plans. I think I'll build a vast army of slow, highly durable artillery tanks and giant flying gunships, and drop these in from my UFO. If you're able to add different modules and such to your UFO, I'll make it a kind of super-carrier with a few nasty strategic weapons. When my force becomes too large to transport, I'll scrap them and design new, bigger, heavier, nastier vehicles that take up more resources, with an eye toward adapting them to the challenges I've encountered so far. The ultimate goal is just to conquer solar system after solar system, crushing all who oppose me, until I get sick of it and start the game over with a new race ;)

I think my plans would depends on wether other AI-species are also going to build space empires, and if so how advanced the interaction will be. I'd love to play the interstellar empire part, trying to make peace with species to big to take over or friendly nice ones, warring with other hostile ones, maybe try and take many smaller weak species under my wing to protect them, help them, maybe blow the @#! out of them once in a while. ^o^

If other species don't build interstallar empires I'd probably go around playing with all the other creatures having fun. Moving them around different planets, launching planetary invasions on them just to see how they'll manage. Maybe I'll even try and create a planet that's completely filled with dozens of different intelligent creatures, all with their own nations. And then just go and watch how it all develops.

If (though I doubt it since I've never seen a strategy game work that way) conquering nations don't destroy others but just occupy them, and the conquered can rebel under certain conditions. I would just see what happens and if one creature conquers all the others I'd go about and mess with them, try to make them fall and let all the other creatures they conquered rebel and stuff. Basically wait till one of the dozens of creatures on the planet wins, and once they do go in and blow up some of their cities, or equip rebel factions with highly advance technology, and then watch as the entire world descends into countless smaller nations and wars again and stuff. I think this could be loads of fun for atleast a week or so. ^o^

If, which I think more likely, conquering is just destroying, or permanently capturing others, then I'd just go around and make sure no one creature ever becomes fully powerfull. Then, maybe, if the game AI is advanced enough for it to work, I'd drop a very powerfull and very advanced species on the planet and watch how all the others need to start working together to win, or else be obliderated. The dropping would ofcourse be loads of fun, for example launching and asteroid into the middle of the planet, then drop the invaders colony in the still burning crater. ^o^ Fun, fun fun. Hehe ^_^

Several thoughts:

If we can build several different species over time, and one ends up being played to the point of getting the UFO, I want to build a race like 'The Sims' complete with little houses and people with spinning green diamond prisms over their heads. Once they have established themselves, I'll spread them like a virus to several planets. Then take pride in:
1. Using a developed hunter-killer species to eat them
2. Harvest them as food (redefines 'SimFarm' eh?)
3. Take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I think, if possible, I'd like to leave a totem on every planet I visit just to 'mark my territory'. Perhaps a large black slab with the dimensions of 1x4x9.

My plan is to use time as my ally.  If the game supports it, my ideal method for conquering the galaxy would be to pit one species against another.  If one can put two types of creature on a planet, sit back, and watch, I will attempt to seed planets and have them either battle it out or coexist and possibly cross-breed...regardless, the resulting species will either prove to be extremely powerful or will cross-breed into another level of animal.  It all depends on what the game can do and how intricate the AI is.  After several generations, I should be able to beam up a battle-weary super-creature and use it as my war machine (for those pesky planets that choose not to accept me as their diety  :) ).  Of course, failing this mechanation, I'll just erase the erperiment with my "Tr0n-make-big-boom" missile.

But then someone flushes a cherry bomb down the toilet, which through some bizarre design flaw the pipes lead down ot the main reactor and it goes BOOM, hurrah for the rebels.

For my galactic plan i think i will be kinda likie the republic/empire in star wars be really nice and get in the good books of every other space travelling species then get into position to take over by force, destroying planets or civilizations where needed until i am the ultimate power, MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

And as for ewoks- wipe them out aaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllll of them.

I'd kind of like to recreate the starship troopers universe, from the original book, not the movie.
