I can't help but notice that the rules still haven't been stated. Somebody explain.

Impossible. Everyone knows the rules of Mornington Crescent.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

Aha. I have read the rules from Benjamin Franklin's Mornington Crescent Almanac. I now totally understand the game.

I have two books of rules sitting on my shelf, but I'm guessing we're using the most up-to-date version. The old one is my dad's.

Where are we at, now? Cricklewood? In that case I'll go for a standard loop back to Blackhorse Road, jumping Seven Sisters because I don't think anyone else is going to let me pull.

EDIT: That's quite lucky, I can make the same move from Baker Street.

Guys, come on now! You have to be serious about this okay. Check the map Sam posted and look at it closely and you'll figure it out if you've got half a brain.

I'm going to be arranging my men in such a way that King's Cross and Portland Street are within my realm of security and initiate Petrov's Defense to keep my claims safe.

No no. The Jargington Semi-vertical prohibits that. Why else would I station there?

Dammit, forgot about that one. In that case it'll have to be Seven Sisters then. Now that Pat's started Petrov's, I think I can pull.

I'll bounce my draws off West Ruislip and into Rayners Lane, which I believe instigates a reversal of play direction, so it's Pat's turn to block.

Not only am I going to block, but I'm allowing two Pax Romanas to be issued at Morden. See if you can snooker your way around that.

It's been quite a while since I've played this. I'm going to play it safe and start with Highgate.
