Kotaku: Will Wright at ComicCon
« on: July 24, 2008, 12:27:16 pm »
A highly entertaining and somewhat informative liveblog transcript from our friends @ Kotaku of Will Wright's speech at ComicCon '08:

I especially like the description of the 'Happiness' machine.  ;D

nice :) looks like much of it is already known, although there is a new bit of information that may or may not be known.

This was in reference to a planet that he then terraformed. So there are categories of terraforming or perhaps habitability.

The bomb was so intense, it even blew up the moon orbiting it.

WHOA! Even the Death Star couldn't do that, although I don't know if Alderaan had a moon or not. Also indicates a degree of physics in the game.

Cool. Especially the fact that the moon could be destroyed if it's too close to the busted planet.

That article was awesome. Also it seems he uses some parts from other speeches he has talked about such as the Gilligan's Island reference.

Actually, we kinda knew that already. The level of terraforming affects the size of cities, and the number of species of a planet, as I recall. Remember the Ecosystems thread? There's a picture of a control panel, showing locked slots for new creatures on a half terraformed planet.

Heres a link to the presentation on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zb4UjWU7wA

This is where the gameplay part starts. From what I hear, people weren't supposed to videotape this, so you should watch it soon in case they remove it  ;)

I can't find the video with the majority of space in it. Like the exploding moon or a bubble city :(
Can anyone help, please?
