Well, I got distracted for a while playing some games on gametap, but got bored of those and returned to the CC. Spore just seems too awesome compared to anything else. Sid Mieiers Pirates! had my attention for a little bit though.

Anyways, heres the latest batch of creatures, I'll probably make two posts for this bunch.

Y'dani

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500008567383

C'veche

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500008561068

I was making something that origionated on a low gravity world and was very tall, but kind of ended up with a freakish creature that looked like a mutated sea slug.

Janjiroo

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500008571555

This creature evolved in a way that it has a top heavy structure, so it developed its front limbs as walking limbs and its lower limbs developed into manipulators.

Desert Ginsubeetle

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500008586809

A creature with heavy armor and lots of weaponry.

Lazacca

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500009017926

A slow moving predator that relies on its spit ability to kill prey and an extremely well developed sense of smell to track down prey. The tentacles and the two spines on its side are all that remain of its front limbs, which have atrophied over time.

Thalnoc

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500009020962

This guy actually does a pretty good impression of a wolf howl. Also, the laardvark head actually makes a pretty good set of thick mandibles. I embedded a handibles to give it a sharp inner edge.

Quamorrean

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500009024524

A warmongering porcine species. I wish I knew how to increase the meaness attribute that shows up with the SporeScope addon. Also, I had to do quite a bit of experimentation to get the head the way I wanted it to. Unfortunately there isn't any other head with a lower jaw like the s'gnarly head does. I didn't really want the monkey sounds, but it will have to do.

Ixilorta

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500009034831

Because of the unusual way I made this creature, it ended up with an unique trait, it is always moving the upper part of the body around. I know the head is always moving when the creature is standing still, but this only involves the head and the neck. However, this is the only creature that I've made which moves much of its body around when just standing still. I took advantage of this and made the upper part of the body where most of the senses are clustered, it moves around to get a full sensory picture. I had a hard time deciding on how to paint this creature as its just so alien looking.

Chadat

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500009056475

A small herbivore, nothing special about this guy.

Irijanga

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500009060191

A tall cranelike avian native to wetlands and other aquatic habitats on its homeworld. The long legs enable it to wade into deep water. The sapient natives of its homeworld claim that the song of an Irijanga is one of the most beautiful sounds on the planet.

Gwekkor

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500009128920

I sort of created this on a spur of the moment, partially inspired by the Skrashers of Startopia, and I felt like making a huge, heavily armored, arthropod type creature. It actually also coincidentially resembles the Garthim from the Dark Crystal movie.

Kertican

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500009189541

A desert dwelling herbivore, it stores water and fats in the fat portion of its tail, which is well defended.

Kaitani Mossback

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500009211424

At first I was trying to make some kind of spitter with bulbous limbs standing in for massive glands (no hands or feet attached), but it kept looking horrible, so I looked at Parkaboys Sennezantine because I thought I had seen it with something like I wanted. However, the Sennezantine and the organs tip from Parkaboys blog inspired me to do something else with it, so I came up with this. I didn't actually use the Sennezantine, although the body shape is very similar. It lives on a planet with a somewhat thinner atmosphere than Earth and it lives in mountanous regions where the air is even thinner. So, it has developed large airsacks behind its head to aid in taking in alot of oxygen. Also, it has developed camoflauge to help hide it among the mosses common to the region where it lives. This creature also has the ability to adapt to changes in oxygen availability by increasing or decreasing the size of the gas bladders and the intake/outlet holes.

I've noticed that the organ I made for this guy is similar to that of the Alberot, the similar systems to take in alot of air evolved for different reasons.

Trakan Ridgeback

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500009224323

Seladi

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500009230414

A strong herbivore. These are known for thier headbutting rituals during mating season. The spikes on the back are used to intimidate rivals. They are known to take on predators by charging and using thier tusks and horns to stab the predator. In other words, this is a dangerous herbivore to mess with if you are a predator.

Due to reasons varying from simply unable to adapt to death by laser, a few species have gone extinct, unlike what would happen if Earth creatures went extinct, these guys will not be missed*.

*I'm saying that it would be a serious problem for various species to go extinct here on Earth, I won't bore you with the scientific details. Just that the extinction of these particular creatures has no issues in the world of Spore.

MaxEye: Extinct due to the fact that it's slow and utterly defenseless. Now if its eyes could shoot lasers, that would be something else...

Xtreme Extendoarms: Extinct due to it's arms getting tangled up in just about everything.

Land Jellyfish Prototype: Extinct due to sheer inability to move properly on land. The real reason I made the Land Jellyfish prototype extinct is because I was totally embarrassed by it, it was horrible compared to what I normally make.

Tkyryt: Extinct because of an Ice Age on its homeworld, it just couldn't adapt to walking on frozen ground since the split body shape kept going all over the place.

Pfnaugh: Extinct due to aliens on a laser rifle hunting spree.

The main reason the Tkyryt and Pfnaugh went extinct is because they were almost purely experimental and were rather simplistic.

All that's left of these creatures are various 3D holomodels and holovids in museums.

thanks :)

Also, if anybody reading this thread has spore, could you check for sure whether the reapermantis parts on my latest creature, the Skerkratos, don't move around too much? I know they patched all those animation issues, but I just want to be absolutely sure.

I know I'm technically 'in hiding' because I don't want to spoil things too much, but I'll still be around to update this thread and look at the CCC thing.

Lastly, could someone check whether the Ecoixa behaves strangely in the game? I have no idea how it will act in the game because I gave it wings so that it has some jump ability, but the wings are hidden. It's actually a great creature, just may have to remove the wings.

I already removed the few creatures that were purely experimental or were meant to show a bug, so don't worry about finding those.

Here is a new batch:

Skerkratos

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500010533148

large boar like animal that is from a harsh planet. It's homeworld is a hot and mostly dry place, so life has to take extreme measures to survive. Most herbivores are heavily defended, ranging from armor to spikes and the predators bieng equally armed. In short, life on its homeworld takes survival to extremes. Predators rarely leave without a couple of cuts and perhaps a gash or two from the preys defenses after a hunt.

H'taq

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500010548121

A voracious carnivore that will eat just about anything that it can get in its huge mouth. It's a very social predator with a clan-like society and hunts in packs.

I did think about giving this guy some arms and graspers, but the complexity meter was already pratically maxed out and so I couldn't get a good grasper on there.

Hkaadi'ysai

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500010563214

A small omnivore, the tubes on the sides of its head are used for breathing and assist in soundmaking.

J'nanin Monkey

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500010651221

It got it's name from the monkey-like noises that it makes, despite bieng physically as far from unmonkeylike as you could get. Also, as I was making this, the head was like screaming for lots of head decorations, so I gave it a whole bunch.

Pjunera

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500010663309

An ambush predator that relies on stealth and a quick burst of speed while hunting.

Jadaca

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames%3Asast-500010695512

A pretty weak omnivore that makes up for its weak attacks by bieng a fast runner. The clubs along its arms are largely used in mating displays, but can be used to scare or confuse an attacker.

Also one of my new creations (the Ygurgan) just got epicised in the tribal stage, saw that on the myspore page in the CC, I really should look at that event thing more. :)

I had only made that creature a few hours ago and it got epicised already, lol :)

Edit: heh, looks like my Ygurgan is becoming a bit popular as an epic, well the first of my creatures AFAIK that have been epicised. I wish I could see the history of the events rather than the most recent. Its actually pretty fitting for a goblin-like creature.

How big are epics? Are they epicly big? Also, congrats on getting an epic creature( think).

Let's hope that none of the explicit creatures get epic(that would be embarassing).

Well, Ondaderthads thread shows an epicisized version of one of my creatures. That particular creature was about 1.83 meters, which is about 6 feet and in his screenshot, it looked like it was the size of a T-Rex (not sure about the scale in that screenshot). Of course though, normal sized creatures can be made a little over 4, maybe 5 meters tall, so bigger normal sized creatures should be larger. Just how much larger, I don't really know.

However, I think the CC doesn't show everything because Ondaderthad ran into a few of my own creatures in tribal and I didn't see anything about that in the events section of the CC.

This is my last batch of creatures before I get Spore. I'm not sure if it will arrive today because the tracking thing said it left Ontario, California (which is east of LA) around 1 AM. Since it is like 3 hours or so from the LA area to San Diego, even faster by plane (even if its a small one), I hope it will arrive today. Its possible that it doesn't leave until like 7 or 8 AM. Anyways, ramble on, over, lets get to those creatures of mine.

Ygurgan

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames|2263061590%3Asast-500013286034

A goblin-like creature which has a clanlike social structure and often live in groups of up to and over 100 individuals. In hard times when food is scarce, they will break up into even smaller groups. Sometimes there are gatherings of over 1,000 or 2,000 individuals. It took quite a bit of tweaking to get the mouth the way I wanted it.

Evocarid

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames|2263061590%3Asast-500013424504

It uses the prongs on its arm both as a weapon and as an aid in grasping things. Initially, I had placed the arm on the head, but it kept going nuts and sometimes made the head jerk around, so I moved it back. A few animations are kind of wierd such as the one where you pop up the babies in test drive, on others, the arm sort of collapses on itself. They are unavoidable bugs really, but with the animation fixes, those should be minimized.

Cheliscrathi

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames|2263061590%3Asast-500013728232

I was going for something unusual and decided trying to place the mouths behind the head, but facing forward and made them look like some sort of wierd organ. There is a little bit of clipping with the mouths opening, but it is not easily noticeable and actually add to the strangeness of it.

Wucrala

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames|2263061590%3Asast-500014914522

The complex mouth evolved from a complex ring of tentacles that fused and developed into jaws. However it grinds up its food in a gizzardlike sack just behind the mouth. Some of the tentacles didn't get incorporated into the jaws. A few developed into sensory antennae while others developed into graspers.

The jaws of Hydros Nauceans evolved from tentacles, right? at least the false jaws did. So, there is a sort of parallel evolution going on here.

Aradoru

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames|2263061590%3Asast-500024520456

I decided that it had been a while since I had made any really big creatures, so I went and made this one. It mostly feeds on trees and the club-like organs on the sides of its head are olfactory sense organs.

Ancorta

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames|2263061590%3Asast-500025756683

They are found in the desert regions of thier homeworld. The tusks are generally used in sparring contests during mating season, but are also useful for defense against predators.

Eriawhoku

http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr-smjjames|2263061590%3Asast-500027353790

An amphibian that evolved into a similar niche as terran frogs.
