-Dwarf metagame-
« on: July 15, 2008, 06:24:11 pm »
It's that time again, folks.
Obviously, i cannot see reason and stop making and quitting meta games, so here's a new one.

Meet Trilby the dwarf. (unless you have a better name.)

To make this meta game, you'll have to decide what Trilby will be, a generic warrior? a backstabbing dirtbag rogue? a devilishly handsome magician? or a ... erm.. bard. anyway, make something up together, unless you're just can't work together.

And then, you will have to decide what his starting proffesion/persona/situation will be, will he be a guard? or perhaps a captain of the guard in a mighty fortress(dwarven or human, doesn't matter. i suppose the universe this will be set in is the dwarf fortress universe, with some twists.) or will he be a daring adventurer, seeking treasure from dark caves and dungeons? perhaps a skilled scientist living in the forest, shunned by the local villagers after using some of them for experiments?

the choice is yours *x-files theme*

Like i said, it will be set in the dwarf fortress era, but more gritty, i suppose i might go all nothing is taboo in this one, or extremely violent.
hammerspace will be used.

Wannabe Dragon-hunter, after his father who died fighting dragons long ago.
No, the dragon didn't kill him. He had stumbled into a small pool of water and drowned.
Looking to bring back his family honor, he hopes to do what his father could not: eradicate every single dragon in the region.

Make it even more embarrassing, his father never made it to the cave, he fell off the mountain while climbing up the sheer rock cliff walking a gentle incline to get to the dragon.

Dragons are of the Fomorii.  The Fomorii are allies of the dwarves.  Go get some revenge against the hill dwellers!

Should we even bother coming up with ideas?  Everytime we have a character do something you don't like you get bored and quit.

He looks like an out of work craftsman.  He's down on his luck and turns to crime/adventure to make some money.

i won't.

i swear it on the precious.
he could be a vicious cheese maker bent on having rough dwarf-sex with every male dwarf in town, for what i care.

anyway, suggestions. should i run a poll for thee?

another thing would if you'd like me to change his appearance.

and what the hell is a Fomorii? should i know them?

He is a bone carver who worked happily until one day he discovered that the bolts he was making were made from Fluffles, his favorite kitten.  He kills the butcher and hilarity ensues.

A Fomorii is a water demon of ancient Celtic mythology, up there with elves, dwarves, etc.

I wouldn't force you to use the old mythology, though.   I was just making a joke on the fact that everyone nowadays uses the Tolkien formula.

how about a veteran mercanary who takes on bone carving. he gets reunited with his lethally injured father, who comes back from a confrontation with the local mega beast; Ach Dwarfbane, the dragon in the mountain nearby.

i dunno, just an example. but i think it would be much more wacky if we mixed and mashed it abit like the above.

he was the cheese maker and craftsman of the fortress when he found out the bones that he used for crafting where of kitties...he killed the butcher and he got fired and turned to crime

durning his crimes he likes to rape both sexes

recently his father died in a pathetic atempt to slay a dragon

now he is out for revenge

He came to the fortress as a cheese maker, but was immediately beaten by the mayor and told to do something useful.  He took up bone carving and all was well until he found his cat's collar in that day's heap of bones.  In a fit of rage and inspiration he killed the butcher and made an incredible sword from his spinal column.

Enraged by the murder but in awe of this weapon, the Mayor stated that the only way to pay for his crime was to slay the local dragon.

And so he set out, bellowing his cat's name as a battle cry.

His cat's name was Gunlelkesh (translates to Rapetails).

i think neo's was excellent.

but that doesn't mean i won't accept something else.

i'll run a different poll when everyone who voted the last option has written their stuff.

actually, i think neo's suggestion is fine.

He's a professional mercenary who also serves as an expert cheese maker. During one of his missions where he was to slay the local dragon, he came across his father, who was a peddler. After a short conversation, he noticed that his father was wearing his pet cat's collar. The father then admitted that he killed the cat to use it's bones for decoration.

Enraged, he feeds his father to the dragon and then kills the dragon afterwards. Scarred by the death of his pet cat, he turns to raping both sexes and then milking them to make cheese and turning their bones to armor and weapons.

Why won't the Major do this himself, stupid idiot.

All i did was give my thanks to that idiot butcher for killing off my poor kitten... i even made this awesome sword out of his spine.

Well. here i am, and there's the dragon. Any advice how to handle this?

Use whatever food he has to lay a trail that leads the dragon back to the fortress.  Then run away very quickly because dragons are untameable once they have tasted dwarf.

We could do the most irresponsible thing; jump on it's back and hold the sword to its eye and force it to fly our little friend to another place.

A more responsible thing to do would probably try to talk to it, if we can make friends, all the better with a dragon.

By feeding it cheese, of course!  As a cheese maker I have no doubt that he carries a purring maggot with him at all times, and everyone knows that Dwarven cheese is the best cheese.  The dragon will love it, or will at least love the +Cheesy Dwarf Roast+ it gets otherwise.

Right, i think i still have that maggot somewhere, there it is.

Ok, let's make some cheese!

*Ten awkward seconds later*

I'll throw a slice to it.

*the dragon looks at the cheese slice*

hmm. it ate it up.

Well, i have more cheese here!

*the dragon gleefully sits down and waggles it's tail*

Hmm. the dragon seems friendly to me now, what now?

Tie some cheese to a stick and dangle it in front of him.

After mounting Miss Dragon, she took off from the ground.

There seem to be something down below by that river, investigate?

From the looks of it, it is a human. Go down and scare them!

Also just so you know, the size value for a dwarf is 6 and a dragon is 20.

Fine, hatchling it is.

isn't wyvern a completely diffrent creature?

like, a non-firespewing lizard creature with wings?

We fly closer and examine the situation.

seems like there's a dwarf and a human or a dwarf, not sure.
there's smoke coming out of the tent, or theres a fire on it.

in what fashion should we consume him?

Miss Dragon(name her) won't be able to fully eat a man like that shark in jaws can until she grows.

she'd probably glide down and bite off his arm.

i'd say chances are pretty slim to bite off his head or arm. I suggest a chest bite from the side is best.

Just land nearby, No need to kill a person just cause ones sleeping with his axe near him and the other has his knife that he used to make starter for the fire out.

INVESTIGATE!

It's a dragon.  Flame him.  Or the grass and laugh as the field burns to ash while you fly above, taking it's occupants with it.  Or I guess we could investigate, I just wanted to point out that fire was an option when you have a dragon.

i suggest we land near them, preferably by a hill, have the dragon hide behind the hill and go out and talk.

Grab hold of him, using martial arts and Matrix Style bullet time, and hold him hostage, then ask him again.
