Will, suddenly devoid of the urge to eat his body weight in nectar, looked up as the building began to cave in.  There were various holes in every floor, he just had to aim for a set that mostly aligned.  He shot up through the building, tucking his wings in or rolling to the side as the holes shifted or became smaller than his flight path.  Shooting out through the roof, he glided smoothly and landed on top of a news van.  He stood, waiting until a particularly large explosion to appeared behind him, and called out dramatically, "and that, is how you blow something sky high!"

Mythos, deciding not to dilly-dally, started down a nearby mutant who appeared to be a particularly strong runner.

"Carry me out of here!" he commanded, the panicked mutant obliging despite its best attempts at resistance. They emerged near the assmebled crowd and mythos jumped from his savior's arms as a couple of policemen clapped handcuffs on it.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

Waking suddenly as he heard Mythos scream, Mister O. dizzly remembered his purpose and climbed the crumbling stairs as fast as he could, busting out into the front door and almost bumping into Chip, as the crowd flocked around the beast of a man Mister O. quietly just became one of the crowd yet again.
No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

Just as Mister O. gets out of the building, the last and largest bombs go off, blowing the building and underground networks sky high. Fleeing behind the news vans and trees, the heroes and news people hide from the flying shrapnel. As the dust settled, a limo pulled up and Mayor Donaldson stepped out. As he did a charred coin fell from the sky and impacted the roof of the limo.

"Captain Fortune... you shall be missed..." Donaldson said as he pulled the coin from the roof.

Just out of range of the blast, Max watched the explosion. As it subsided, one of The Master's shackles landed at his feet. Picking it up and placing it into one of his pockets, Max walks over to the mayor's limo.

"I don't know what happened in their, but it seems they have won." Max said to Donaldson.

"Indeed, but not at a loss..." Donaldson replied as he passed the coin to Max.

Nodding to Max, Donaldson walks over to the heroes and into the view of the cameras.

"Heroes! As a tribute to your great heroism, I, Mayor Donaldson, on the behalf of Capitol City wish to treat you to party fitting for heroes of your caliber!" Donaldson paused to turn to the cameras, "Of course, all of you are invited to join too! Meet all of your favorite heroes, live, in person and not in the middle of a fight! Free food and drink for everyone!"

A few days later, the party for the heroes started, right in the newly renamed Vince Powell Memorial Park. The cement had finally dried and the coin used by Captain Fortune was set in for display to all to see in his memory, in a statue of his image.. Around the park, tables with either food or a game were set up. In the middle of the park, a makeshift stage was set up next to the memorial statue.

"Welcome, welcome one and all! Welcome to the first annual Mutant Liberation Day! A day of celebration for our great heroes after saving us all from the mutant menace!" Mayor Donaldson announced from the stage, "And be sure to be here tonight, for the wonderful fireworks show!"

Mr. Lobe was disappointed. He was disappointed and worried. Disappointed because he had missed all the fun. And worried. "...yes, but listen to me; Captain Fortune died. You must know that he is ALLWAYS lucky. Don't you see it? It must mean that dying was lucky, it must mean that it spared him from a fate worse than death!" Lobe repeated for the third time to the people sitting around his table, but no one seemed interested in his apocalypse preaching. They'll see... I know it! It WILL get worse...

"Or," Will said, taking a short swig from the bottle he carried, "he lost hold of the coin and all the bad juju he had before he got it came back in one go.  Look at it this way, the coin's in a monument, the monument's owned by the city.  Judging by what Captain Fortune could do, everyone in town's gonna win the lottery next week and nothing bad will happen ever again.  Relax," he called as he patted Lobe roughly on the back, "the skies are clear and the sun is shining.  I know 'cus I was just up there."

The day continued peacefully for the residents of Capitol City, and the word of what to look for to remove the mutant presence from other cities quickly spread. Soon, the world was almost entirely free of the mutant threat. There were, of course, some isolated incidents in various cities at various times, but other than that, life continued mostly as normal.

Max never shared what he learned about The Master's handcuff, not even with his extensive spy network. Deep down he knew, the mutant uprising was just a start, but a start to what he did not know. Putting the cuff back among various evidence from other crimes in Capitol City, he walks out of the courthouse and tries to enjoy the peace of the moment.
