Fourteenthed

Yeah I wont use any of those shark fins on my creatures. The only creature I have made that uses it is my Sharktasaurus and the fins make it look bad.

Fifteenth'd. I use them, but I always forget how poorly they animate. Then it goes and almost ruins the creature. Please patch it Maxis! Please.

With all due respect, I honestly don't know what you were thinking when you decided to program them so that whenever your creature moves, they rock back and expose their undersides which should be hidden invisibly inside the creature's body.

I agree it often looks pretty bad, but they don't always wiggle around.

I'm not sure what makes the difference, possibly that they are attached only to the metaball from a single vertebra... but i have some bony parts in the middle of my ceratopsian's head, and they don't wiggle.

Seventeenthed. The powers that be certainly won't pay a lick of attention to this, but they should. I have to settle for half-made creatures so as not to drown in graphical glitches. Spines, plates, parts of all kinds. I have to treat them like they are surgical instruments in order for them to work right... and even that isn't always possible.

Agreed

i can barely count how many times I've made a dissappointing shark because of this awkard animation.

I agre, they just need two fixed points instead of one.
My sporepedia page:

I have over 50 creatures, I only upload my best so each of these should be good. All my creatures work ingame, and are beliveable.

Please take a look at my sporecast of the Flob species:

Twentithed...

And I think most things that I would say have been covered.

I suspect this problem will be addressed before Spore is released.  In the 1up interview, it was mentioned that having the CC go public has been a great help in terms of debugging the animation system, so presumably, someone will spot the problem.

Seriously annoying - look at my Skulldorr 2; It's head is made almost exclusively of these parts. I don't mind that the mouth clips through the top when he roars/calls, because it's not noticeable. What IS noticeable is that when he walks; his skull completely collapses.

Maybe some sort of... option to fix parts. 'Cause I know that some creatures use that flicking back, and it probably helps the animation side, but it'sd be nice to select several parts and make them move as one... Would help the skull out a lot, amongst many other things.
Actually; it'd be great if -by linking these pieces to the mouth or eyes- they resize with the mouth/eyes on the baby creatures - so many brilliant facial details (just look at the current most popular creature and it's beautiful bone work) which get broken up on the babies because of resizing...

when did this turn into a petition?

These parts need fixed. They looks so cool, and there's loads of different uses you could get out of them, but they animated so friggin terribly. How the hell did this get past the alpha testing phase?
