Male Child:
1. Sees a penis creature -> nothing new to him.
2. Sees female breasts -> Unless the child wasn't breastfed I don't see the issue here.
3. Sees a vagina creature -> wtf is that? (or if he does know what it is, then it's no big deal)
4. Sees a creature that seems like 2 having sex -> same as 3.

Female Child:
1. Sees a penis creature -> wtf is that? (or if she does know what it is, then it's no big deal)
2. Sees female breasts -> Unless the child wasn't breastfed I don't see the issue here, besides she'll have a pair of them when she gets older.
3. Sees a vagina creature -> nothing new to her.
4. Sees a creature that seems like 2 having sex -> same as 1.

Conservative Parent:
1. Sees a penis creature -> Enters state of shock, sues for millions, claiming their child's innocence has been defiled.
2. Sees female breasts -> Enters state of shock, sues for millions, claiming their child's innocence has been defiled.
3. Sees a vagina creature -> Enters state of shock, sues for millions, claiming their child's innocence has been defiled.
4. Sees a creature that looks like 2 having sex -> Enters state of shock, sues for millions, claiming their child's innocence has been defiled.

Fixed your quote first of all... way to go trying to blanket stereotype btw

Second of all.. a good parent would already see the potential for problems with a game where anyone can make whatever thing they wish and know some people will make more.... 'questionable' material and monitor the content appropriately, downplaying anything that the child doesn't understand...

It is kind of sad people even have to make these kind of creatures (probably out of immaturity), for a game they know will probably have a younger audience... it'd be like buying Hello Kitty adventures, going onto a server (assuming it has MP?) and spouting constantly racist/obscene things... perfectly legal? yes... proper respectful behavior around children? no!

Unfortunately you can't apply logic to these people, particularly not in the US and UK.
They are constantly complaining about nanny-state tendencies, but even so they empower their governments to tighten their grip with each complain about "you should have stopped the game, tv ad, film etc".

Regardless of whether or not a child will be traumatised by a penis/vagina***, this would not be an issue if these parents would start doing some PARENTING, and not expect nanny-Bush to do it for them.
I could POSSIBLY understand concern about things they have no way of preventing their children from being exposed to, but THEY choose to buy or at least let the games into the household. If you think the game is bad: then don't!

(for crying out god damned effing loud)

***(which I sincerely doubt anyway; Has anyone here played doctor? I know I did. I was "exposed" to female genetalia way before I could play a computer games and have yet to start my first mass-murdering spree)

I never got to play doctor. I feel I missed out on so much normal childhood.

I don't know how this goes in the rest of the world, but in Europe most of us aren't so short sighted when it comes to nudity.
Children know more about their sexuality as most of us would assume.
But i do agree that we should try to avoid them to see it until a certain age.
Suing is only a selfish act of the parents to get easy money out of it imo, because it doesn't help their child who saw it at all.
Spore has made us gods even before we are worthy of being men.

Sueing is WRONG. just palin wrong. and stupid. Why the hell should I have to pay some one for being stupid?

We dont have sueing here in NZ, and im glad.

If you get out of ur car and trip over my rubber hose lying on the ground and break ur nose, its ur own damn fault for not looking where ya going.

But the person who tries to sue isnt wholey the problem, its the judges that OK it.

- Sorry, the subject of sueing anyone for anything makes me enfuriated. makes me never want to live in america.

There are a lot of stereotypes flying about this thread, and none of them are warranted.  Get back to the topic at hand or take it to the appropriate place ... which isn't the Spore boards.

I guess we better start burning the etch-a-sketches before all the children get exposed to square breasts again.

Me?  I am perfectly calm.  I'm not the one going round ranting about 'Nanny Bush' and reminiscing about having 'played doctor' as a child.  Neither of which has the slightest thing to do with Spore.

So that's it, eh?  All these years of waiting, and as the grand moment approaches, we discover that we're not going to see planets full of penis creatures.  I mean, it's a good thing, but why couldn't they have set up a filter system or something, rather than just ban creatures outright.  Honestly, one of the first things I thought of when Spore was announced was the possibility of penis creatures, and now, the punch line has been effectively killed.

Either A) make your own or B) go to a privet website and download them.  The only ban is in the offical website uploads.

You WANT penis creatures?

Hell yes.

It'd be awesome to find them on some hidden moon in a backwards solar system - PENISES, EVERYWHERE.

You don't feel just the tiniest bit of guilt if somebody gets injured by tripping over something on your property?  What if you could have warned them, but just didn't feel like it?  What if you knew the person was blind and couldn't see your hose?  What if the person is blind, and you LIE to him and tell him the path is clear?

I mean, accidents happen of course.  But if you have a known hazard on your property, the least you can do is warn people.  And if you cause serious injury to someone through your OWN negligence, then you should cover that person's medical bills, at a minimum.

No offense, but your attitude makes me glad I don't live in your country.  Are you allowed to just knock people down whenever you feel like it?  Is it "their own damn fault" for standing near you?

Also, to one of the previous posters, lawsuits are not "easy money".   In fact, they're usually not any type of money.  In the cases where somebody actually does get money, it's far from easy.  There are occasional exceptions, and the media usually exaggerates the heck out of them, but frivolous lawsuits are almost always thrown out.  It's a complete myth that lawsuits are some sort of easy get-rich-quick scheme.
