Pff, the Sun people were barbarous savages with stupid primitive beliefs and terrible standards of living. Becoming part of the Empire was the best thing that ever happened to them. Ungrateful bastards  :(

This reminds me of an argument me and a buddy on xbox live got in to.

He liked the 300 but hated it. He said thats not how it happened its a historical slap in the face!.

I said..you know its based on a comic book right..?

(him) No its based on history!.

(Me) No its based on the comic book The 300 thats very very very loosely based on history.

He has not talked to me since  :-\. The sad thing is the guy is quite educated and pretty damn smart...he just has some issues with the movie because of his race.. :(

When he first seen the movie he said you can tell it was politically motivated...

I read in the Culture Magazine that it was apparently just a propaganda piece wherein the 'Western Democratic' Spartans held back the tides of 'Islamic Extremism'...

I was pretty dismissive. I can't imagine being offended by a battle that happened two thousand years ago. (Remember Vecentegorix!)
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone elses opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation." - Oscar Wilde

Yes, I am aware of the irony.

Pretty hard to imagine it was about Islamic Extremism considering that Islam didn't appear until about a millennium later and the Persians in the time period were probably Zoroastrians.  :-X

Just like what happened with that DunkinDonuts ad?

Personally, if 300 was in any way offensive, it would be against the Persian Empire not 'Islamic Extremism.'
