Yay. I just wonder what historical event they'll cover this time. I'm sure it'll be just as awesome.

Wait a minute? How can they produce a sequal to 300 if all the main characters are already dead? I mean come on, the movie wasn't even that good in the first place.

The Sequel is going to be World War 2 with americans in football helmets riding zebras and weilding a shield and jousting lance, fighting against Hitler and Sauron with Panzer Mechs powered by the baby blood and the Warhammer 40k Orks of Mordor. The war will be won when a biplane loaded with an atom bomb takes off from the U.S.S Constitution. The atom bomb drops and causes the spartans to be ressurected and Leonidas and Abe Lincoln face off against Pirate Ghost Wizard Zombie Hitler and Sauron with the One Ring.

Battle of Trafalgar?
Or would moving it to the navy be a bad move considering it's already pretty camp?  :P

Or perhaps they could do a spanish-aztec battle...

Well, not really a sequel. According to the IGN thing it's a "follow-up"..so it may be a prequel/spin-off...something.

Prequel than maybe I can understand, sequel would just be an abomination on so many scales.

Hey I'm all ears when it comes to another addition, a spin off maybe.
Prequel, maybe.

But a sequel would just be rehashing on a great movie that doesn't need a crappy addition.
Sequels have a tendency to, well, suck; most of them at least.

I loved the first but it's really uncalled for making a second.

I hope they do not do a sequel

They could however tell a different classic Greek story in a similiar over the top fashion.

I've always wanted to see Xenophon's Anabasis on the big screen.  It could even sound like a sequel with the name 10,000.

That sounds like it could be a great movie... if Frank Miller had enough sense to think of any other Greek myths.  ::)

I for one would want to see some Nordic history. Start a series even. The first movie would be about Danish vikings attacking an Irish fortress in search of Mjölnir, which as we all know grants superpowers. At first they kick ass, then William Wallace turns up and kicks their ass for a while, then there's a heroic speech and a final climactic battle.

All the Irish and all the vikings die except Harald Bluetooth, who finds Mjölnir and then creates the Kingdom of Sweden, which rules peacefully and democratically for a thousand years.  Sequels would then bastardise other important events in Scandinavian history with over-the-top violence and infectious catchphrases.

This reminds me of an argument me and a buddy on xbox live got in to.

He liked the 300 but hated it. He said thats not how it happened its a historical slap in the face!.

I said..you know its based on a comic book right..?

(him) No its based on history!.

(Me) No its based on the comic book The 300 thats very very very loosely based on history.

He has not talked to me since  :-\. The sad thing is the guy is quite educated and pretty damn smart...he just has some issues with the movie because of his race.. :(

When he first seen the movie he said you can tell it was politically motivated...

I read in the Culture Magazine that it was apparently just a propaganda piece wherein the 'Western Democratic' Spartans held back the tides of 'Islamic Extremism'...

I was pretty dismissive. I can't imagine being offended by a battle that happened two thousand years ago. (Remember Vecentegorix!)

Pretty hard to imagine it was about Islamic Extremism considering that Islam didn't appear until about a millennium later and the Persians in the time period were probably Zoroastrians.  :-X

Just like what happened with that DunkinDonuts ad?

Personally, if 300 was in any way offensive, it would be against the Persian Empire not 'Islamic Extremism.'
