Crazy Machines 2
« on: June 25, 2008, 02:00:36 pm »
I saw this game on steam: http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=app&AppId=18400

It seems similar to the old Incredible Machines series. Has anyone tried it out? Is it worth the 20$ cost?

You're better off looking around the bargain bins and whatnot for The Incredible Machine.

TIM 3 is actually free abandonware.
Here we go:
TIM - http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?gameid=537
TEMIM - http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?gameid=381

TIM 3 - http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?gameid=538

Widget Workshop is also pretty cool - http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=5028

Abandonware is not free. It is just in a gray zone.

(My definition of Abandonware is software (or any type of ware really) that the copyright holder (owner) does not care for. Therefor you can download it and play it as much as you want... But! If the copyright holder do care for his software is no longer Abandonware and Therefor you risk get the law on you if you brake the copyright laws.)

When you singing up use code and get 5000 credits for free ;)

The Home of the Underdogs only allows downloading of the software that is no longer in stores and the copyright holder doesn't care anymore, TIM, TEMIM, TIM3 and WW all fit that description, on the other hand if you search for "Sim Life" there fore example, it gives you information about Sim Life and then links you to a place where you can buy it because it's still in Stores  ;D

So yeah, those 4 I mentioned or anything really from Home of the Underdogs that is up for download is legal.

Not legal. Gray Zone. But there cool. A lot of the stuff there is stuff you can not find. And if you find it then buy a copy because it might very well be the last copy on the market. (Well if is in original package.) It makes me so sad that a lot of good games disperse with the reconginstion they deserves :(

Well, if it was that bad they'd be shut down by now :P
Anyways, the games work so if you want them... get them. Unless you're lucky enough to find a retail copy.

I never said it sucked >_>

What I said was that some game review website gave the first one seventy-something percent, which is actually pretty decent.

Well if i may draw a analogy. Is walking against red light when there is no one around. It is not legal but... no one really cares except maybe you. :)

We most likely brake laws every day. But as long as there is not conflict then it is not a problem. Laws after all are a tool to solve conflicts.

HotU is one of the most honestest sites there is out there and i recommend everyone to check it out at least onces just to learn a bit of history

There's a demo on the official site of the game. After playing (part of) the demo, I don't think I'll buy the game. One of the good things about the TIM games is that there were a lot of puzzles with a somewhat limited set of parts. Crazy Machines has way too many parts in my opinion, which just makes it confusing. There are steam-parts, like a boiler and a steam engine, electricity parts, and so on. In my opinion, it's just too much.

Also, the Einstein-lookalike scientist has been done way too often already...

Well, except with a much better interface and probably far easier to pick up and become proficient with... and cheaper :P

The others maybe, but cheaper? GMod is $9.99 and Wiremod is free.
