I couldn't stand to stay away from it any longer, so I caved in.

Yeah, I tried the trial. That's good enough for me.
Should hold me for a couple months. I've also got a lot of stuff coming up that'll help pass the time.

EDIT: Besides which, I hope by the time Spore does come out that they've ironed out their issues.
None of my creatures appear in the CC now, not that I care anymore.

I tried the free demo. Created a few creatures but that's it. No more Spore until the full game comes out.

No way!

Spore will offer so much more that I feel its handy to know the ins and outs of the editor beforehand... besides that its to much fun not to play now :D

Using it just makes me long for Spore so much more.

Actually playing the game, having the planet around you, evolving, and all that jazz.

It doesn't ruin anything, but it makes the short wait seem so much longer.

I had thought about abstaining.  However I figure now that the game has moved away from a linear experience where you have to earn the editors through game play to where they now saw everything will be availible from the get go there is less harm in playing with the editor now.

*sniff*

I have no choice but to abstain. I need a new computer before I can run Spore or its demo.

I have to abstain as well.

Ubuntu WINE geeks need to catch up for Spore's September release.
Though it is fun trying to guess where the UI is in a vain attempt to build the creature.  I managed to get a simple ponopono design (see my creature creator thread), though you wouldn't know because WINE can't render this game correctly.  ^_^

So I'll hold off on the $10 for more parts.  Especially as there's a file online to unlock not all 100%, but 75% of the parts.  And it's free!  Oh my, did I just say that?  I won't tell you where to get it.  ~_^  Not that I've downloaded it, there would be little point in doing that as I can't even utilize the basic game as is.

I haven't played with the creature editor yet either.

This is mainly because my laptop is old and can't run it :(.  I will buy a new computer before Spore comes out.  As the OP said, the advantage of not playing with the editor is that everything will be new when I finally get Spore.  ;D

Suggestion to the OP:  Keep your initial post up-to-date with the names of everyone who has not used the creature editor.  I feel so lonely on this board, everyone seems to have played with it except me.  If you keep a list of everyone who hasn't played it, then we won't feel so lonely!   :D

Same here.
All my Macs are PPC ones, so I'm desperately saving for a shiny new intel iMac around September ;-)

It all seems so unfair.
I've been waiting for this game since GDC 2005 like so many others, yet (judging by most of the 'things' on the Sporepedia) every 5 year old kid with a PC is gleefully pre-populating the Sporeiverse with Pokemons and Barneys!

Is this final proof that there is not a God, or just proof that he doesn't really like me?

i'm not buying the full version of the trial... i don't believe in paying money for a trial version  ::)

and the standalone CC, full parts or not, is still a demo version of Spore...

and either way... i don't really see the point in creating a creature that i won't be able to play outside of that little round area anyways...

plus, i want the "full" spore experience... so new parts on release are a must for me ;)

Cheers
