You can't really make a movie out of Doom.  There is no plot, just random killing.  Oh well how bad can it be? ::)

well there is a story (albeit a very basic one) behind the Doom games, to bad the movie doesnt have anything to do with it.

Well, I saw it (kids and wife forced me out fo the house...)

I give it a C-. If you like action movies and you've already washed your hair this weekend you'll like it, but if something sounds at all better, do that instead.

I also decided it may be worth the full ticket price and saw it.  I knew what I was getting and I got just that, it was an entertaining romp of violence, blood, gore, all that good stuff.  Since I knew exactly what to expect and wasn't looking for a good movie, the big problem I had with the movie was how freakishly wussy the chainsaw was....  It barely made any flesh wounds on that..... dog...... creature..... guy....... thing................ whatever it was (which makes you wonder why that guy was the only one who turned into such a creature, when all the others became those zombie-esque things).  I enjoyed the mass killing that ensued and how there was a certain degree of claustrophobic and unilluminated suspense (I'm probably the only person in existence who was at all in suspense for that movie, however I tend to really, really, really 100% lose myself in movies so I tend to feel such things) with all those dark narrow corridoors.  It is  unfortunate that not only did they change the Doom storyline to be more of a zombie flick than the gates of hell opening up (since as a mindless gun porn romp it would've been fine) with that lame and cliche "plot" (term used loosely) when they probably could've made a better plot out of the tried and true Doom story, but whatever.  Not an owner, but leave your brain at the door and you might be entertained for an hour and 45 minutes or so.

I also saw the Doom preview last night when I saw Serenity. Wholly crap did that movie look bad! A good portion of the "movie" actually looks like the Doom game, being shown from first person view killing monsters right out of the game. I mean, I guess that would be cool in theory, but after watching this action in the trailer it looks totally stupid. Hopefully that scene isn't in the movie and was made just for the trailer.

The "good" thing going for Doom right now is that the movie is rated R, which means it won't hold back the action (an all too common occurrence these days). I hope it's going to be good, but after that trailer ... my hopes aren't up.

Funny thing, I was actually asked in a movie theater in California by some surveyers to watch this trailer to help them decide wether to air it or not. To summarize it, I didnt say too many kind things about it (though I said it politly, I hope!)

What I noticed was how hard the plot was to follow. The movie seemed to be over very quickly and the first 2 thirds of the movie was pretty dull. However the last third of the movie (the FPS part) was pretty cool.

It was also very dark. I never got to get good look at the monsters. You would keep trying to find the contrast knob... in the theater.

Well, I guess it was true to the game then.

Worst movie EVER!!!  And I like B-Movies.  The main problem was that the flick was flat out BORING.  Nothing happened!  All they did was wander around dark cooridors for the whole movie.  The dialog consisted of, "Cover me, right flank, this way, wtach out, form up on my left"  where were the monsters?  Where was the action?

I really wanted to punch the producers when I left the theater.

this movie looks stupid, aren't they meant to be in hell!!?? The Rock is just to cheeasy for me to take him as a serious actor, even if it is an action-star.
however, i kinda liked the 1st person thing, ive never seen that in a movie before, it was pretty cool in that regard

Except the Doom XBOX graphics look better than the special effects on the preview..

Woo! I saw this movie, in my dark room, my very dark room, about 10 minutes ago! It didn't actually scare me that much...

My comment: It took forever for that creepy guy to die, the one who called for reinforcements.
