Cliff's Notes version is it seems to be trying to find appeal as a slimmed-down MMO -- i.e. the differences between lower levels and higher levels are less pronounced, they streamline some of the travel aspects (i.e. teleporting right to quests), character development doesn't seem quite as complex, etc. The other big thing they're marketing on is the idea of no monthly fee... which is a great idea for now, buty will they be able to be able to pay the bills down the road if people don't buy expansions?
