Aligon's Genetic Zoo
« on: June 13, 2008, 08:24:49 pm »
My Spore Creatures!
Here's my Sporepedia page:
http://www.spore.com/view/profile/Aligon

(Below is the first creature I made at Yuri's Night. I'll eventually make it again on my version of the game.)
This is the Occle-Horn, a stealthy hunter that uses its long three-eye'd-stalk to peer over the tall and dense grasses of its homeworld and make its way towards its prey. Once it is close enough, it pounces and uses sharp talons, a powerful jaw, and multiple antlers and horns located on its eye-less and nose-less forehead (It doesn't need to worry about damaging its delicate sensory equipment, because it's all located on the eye-stalk!) to spear and tear its prey apart.

and here's the Occle-Horn with a couple of its offspring:

Well, here are some creatures I made last night. Check out the descriptions on sporepedia! (I'll maybe add them directly to this page later on)

The Graspot:

The Pockered Grapholder:

and one of my personal favorites:

The Quing:

I have some others up on my sporepedia page at http://www.spore.com/view/profile/Aligon

Any comments, feedback?
(also, am I hosting these images correctly? Some people seem to be sticking the files directly on this page, should I be doing that?)

Three more creatures!

The Shamcrock:

Cagehead (this one animates really well):

The Manterpillar (I started this one out trying to make a circle out of the spine, and as I added parts to it and realized how ridiculous it looked, it slowly evolved into this thing. I really like the leg arrangement):

Any criticisms or comments are appreciated!  ;)

Thanks, I'm trying to get them as varied as I can.
Does anyone know how to get feet facing anywhere but forwards? I'm trying to make my main creature, the Agnoculus, but I can't figure out how to rotate the feet...

Hehe, I wanted to make a six-legged crocodile, and then found that the normal four legs worked better. I painted it all green and stuck a bad pun in (Shamrock --> ShamCROCK) and voila!
I'm going to start working on my Role-play creatures now.

If you want them facing backwards, put the head on the back end, and basically make it completely facing opposite from the start. The feet and hands will by default still be facing the right direction.

Thanks!  ;D
Problem is, I'm trying to get all the feet facing in opposite directions! It's probably impossible...  :(
I finished the Morvlox, a creature I invented a while back, but I can't seem to upload to Sporepedia... I'll update later.

My latest two creations (I didn't upload either to sporepedia), seem to have disappeared from my account since yesterday, but that's fine, they weren't very good anyway...

EDIT: never mind, I just found them in my Documents folder...

The Florasaurus (kind of makes me think of a Pokemon, but that's fine:

My favorite creature so far:

The spyrarm has these coiled-up limbs, so when you use the punch animations and stuff like that, they stretch out completely. It's pretty awesome  ;D

I just added tons and tons of the same leg segment one on top of the other (using the advanced limb commands, with Ctrl and whatnot), and then shaped them around into spirals. Some of the animations are a little off, but it walks ok.  8)

Ah, that's what I guessed :) It's strange they hid that function (multi-usable joints) so only tutorial watchers know how to do it.

Really, really awesome stuff. I'm glad you PM'd me now. When I saw the first 3 creatures you made I was worried for a bit. :P

The Shamcrock, Spyrarm, and Springeye are AWESOME. Great job. I've been to busy making semi-realistic creatures instead of getting creative.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm quite proud of my latest ones. I haven't tried much in the way of realism, except for my homo habilis creature... I can't wait to see the full version and find out what the other kinds of limbs look like!

Continually awesome creatures! Keep it up. I need to work with some different colors, I think.

If you look at him on the sporepedia page (when you double-click on a card from inside your game), he just continually swings back and forth, it's kind of cute.  ;)

This next one was just a test: I was trying to make my own hand-part by just chaining a bunch of limbs together on the ends of its arm. It took a long time to get them looking remotely like hands, but I think I got it down. Now I need to figure out a way to make the game animate it like a hand; right now its whole arms just swing around uselessly...

Without further ado, I present the experimental "Kriband":

Yeah I realized that I might have made the sign pointing the wrong way when I was about halfway through "York", so I had a moment of panic there, but it turned out fine (I wanted "New York" to be legible from Sporepedia.)
