How about: Once every Vykusian year (.86 Earth years), a male Vykusi will go to the nearest shore and spawn out genetic material into the ocean.  A few days later the female will do the same thing.  After the two come together they form a small soft shelled egg.  The eggs then wash up on shore to awaiting parents (basically any two Vykusi will do).  They then take them to a special tree with gaps in the roots and place them there and nest them.  The eggs will hatch in around 85 days.

The Tree
An extremely bad drawing of the special tree, the line in the drawing is where the ground starts.  The gaps would normally be larger but I have terrible drawing skills.

Sounds good to me! Plus it is believable and adds an interesting dynamic in that their parents may not be their actual parents. Maybe you could tie in some lore with children who get taken in by their actual parents or something? I dunno, just throwing stuff out there.

You're on the right track though, good stuff!

I also have an opposing states idea that surround the two main gods, Om and Wi.  Servants of Om are good and scientific whilst the Agents of Wi are superstitious and oppressive.  Something I will have to work into there history, should be interesting.  Kinda makes me think of another creature I can not think of right now.

Already you're making a history for them?!

That was fast, and so far seems to be shaping up quite nicely :)
The realism is really good with the reproduction too.

Nice job so far, can't wait to see more.

I bet If I made a thread you'd do me the same favor ;)
Actually I'm in the process of making one.

You mean a creature, right?  If you make it NG and get approved maybe we can do an intro RP together.  That's also assuming that I get in as well.

Hey, if you're into RPing we've also got a fantastic general RP section out on the main page. We could use some people who are willing to post some new projects. ;)

Suit yourself. Feel free to stop by and take a look around some time though. It's not much different than making a creature and there are so many more options.

Writing
This is basically how a Vykusi writes.  Their language is completely tonal, so they have no real "words".  Instead the represent with dots of varying height, with around twenty five tones total.  A dot in the middle means to hold a tone for one "beat" longer.  One dot up means to go one tone up and two dots mean two tones up and vise-versa.  They always start with the same tone, the one in the middle of their range of tones..  The slash means it's the end of the sentence.

Any questions or things I should improve or address?

Interesting word representation, though I can't help thinking they would be more realistic as glyphs, perhaps with lines "joining the dots", as it were, and eliminate the actual dots themselves. Not only would it be far far easier and faster to write, it would potentially save space.

EDIT: If you did that, I can see Vykusi books looking like they were written by a seismometer. ;D

Daxx, in his infinite wisdom, has awarded you his seal of approval.

I also award Daxx a Wittyness Cookie, for the seismometer comment.

This is a good day for GS. ;D

I actually thought of the lines thing, but it really didn't want to work because they would have limited their amount of tones to five or require twenty five dots.  But thanks for the comments.

Well, I can see nothing wrong with it. Approved and added to the index. ;)

Ohh, and patman, what are you doing here in the creation corner, mmh? :P
