Spore creature tags
« on: June 09, 2008, 08:36:03 am »
When I watched the latest video on building a creature, the point where he puts in the search tags, "brown, goofy, claws", I thought... that's it? If I really wanted to find that creature in the sporepedia, it would probably be among thousands of others.

I realize this was just a demo, but maybe we should think about some standardized tags, at least for us forum members. Kind of a classification system...

Some universal tags that almost all creatures should include, like
color
main weapon type
herbivore/carnivore/omnivore
small/medium/large
monoped/biped/quadruped/multiped
etc.

Then again, I don't imagine everyone would want to spend ten minutes figuring out which tags to enter.  ???

Perhaps a tag like 'GS' to mark them as a Gaming Steve user creation?

The more tags you'd be adding, the more searches the creature would show up in. As such I expect the "serious" creators who's proud of what they've made and want to share it with everyone will consider adding a lot of tags, and finding the ones that describe the creature best. I know I will :)

GS might end up being used by someone else too. However, a 'gamingsteve' tag might be good.

tags I'll be using: gs, gaming, steve, gamingsteve, darkdragon, [color of the creature], [personality and looks of the creature], [if it's from somewhere else, like a movie, I'll add where it is from], etc
DarkDragon's Minecraft Survival Server (use this as the IP):

gamingsteve.dyndns.org

- The server uses a whitelist, if you're not on the whitelist (can't connect), PM me your minecraft name.

I was thinking about this just now.....

~ possible TAGS to use ~

1. Name ( of creature or your name )
2. Age ( of creature or your age )
3. Location ( if you named your planet or your home )
4. Size ( small, med, large )
5. Color ( as shown in the sample videos elsewhere )
6. Group ( like everyone mentioned Gaming Steve in this case )
7. Orientation ( Herbivore, Carnivore, Omnivore )
8. Affiliation ( Good, Neutral, Evil )
9. Time ( when creature was made, the date as well )
10. Other ( for anything else not covered by the above )

* That's just off the top of my head mind you *

I think it should be able to automatically put in the color tag.

Dark, I don't think you need to put the author's name in the tag field. The author's name is automatically part of the creature, and you can search by author.

Should we all agree on one GamingSteve tag for a Sporecast?

Just gamingsteve would be best IMO. Simpe and you don't have to worry about capitalization.
