Ahoy, mateys!

I am back again with another meta game. this time, you'll be helping a mountain troll through life! you decide what our friend will do, will he become a hunter and simply roam the mountainside gathering leather and food from the local wildlife? or will he become a warrior mercanary fighting for the highest bidder? or will he create his own mountain home, mining for unknown treasures in the mountains?
Or will he become a cunning wizard, mastering the techniques of ancient magic?

you decide. but for now, our troll is very basic, having a leather loincloth and a wooden club.
through your wise decision making, you'll turn him into something great.

Our troll has awoken from a very long slumber, and is ready to take on the world.

Ages past he raided a dwarven merchant caravan and stole whatever he could. he got this map, depicting the local area. it's pretty old and parts are fading away, exploring the countryside will help us know more of the area.

So, what to do? first you must decide an awesome name for him. then what he should do, visit the local tavern? though there might not actually be a tavern, as the map is quite old.

whoop

(I'll use hammerspace for items. don't actually need to eat or anything, won't go that deep and advanced. though he'll get a strength boost if he eats.
i'll add more, need sleep.)

He's a troll, trolls have what kind of names? That's right... sophisticated. Therefore, his name must be Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth, because he can. When he goes to the tavern, he should break an empty bottle, place the sharp bottom at his eye and use it like a monocle that's embedded into his face.

He should seem refined, but act psychotic.

Yes.

No.

Let's try being adventurously heroic this time, not randomly psychotic.  Think chaotic good, or unprincpled if you've ever played a Palladium game.  In fact, he looks more like a Palladium ogre more than any troll I can think of.

woke up today to find my new thread had recieved a pleasant 11 replies!

i'll set up a poll for name.

the game will be set in a kinda dwarf fortress/norse world.
The Troll is about twice the size of a normal sized man. he is quite strong, able to lift heavy boulders.
if you decide to just stay in the same cave for ever, you could want to improve it, like, make traps and hallways, catch dangerous animals and use them for pets. there are treasure hunters everywhere, looking to loot whatever we might find, like jewelry and so on.

Humans are neutral to you, dwarves are neutral and elves are neutral, but all are very cautious towards your actions.

The Troll is not very bright, possessing only basic common english, though hardly understandable. tribute to Huck's Burke adventure .__.
We could get a job as a blacksmith, if the employer is that desperate as to hire a troll.

anything could be done.

I suppose we won't go all Kogan on his arse, turning all psychotic as soon as possible.

Ok, so forget the psychotic then, in any case, he should try to get a monocle, a top hat and a cane before he starts anything big, he might as well look his best.

Search the cave and see what we own.

Then search the nearby area to see how drastically it has changed since we were last awake.

Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth searches his humble abode, finding his bed, which is carved into the mountain wall. there is an engraving of a dragon spitting flames at a humanoid creature. He finds a wooden mace. There is also a wooden barrel, when touching, the wood corrodes and crumbles. the wooden mace though, is surprisingly though. inside the barrel, he finds a crown made of silver, there is an amethyst gem encrusted in it. a part of the crown is broken off from what seems to be a cut from a blade of some sorts. it seems very old.

Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth tries it on and really likes it. he thinks it fits him perfectly.

what should he take with him?

Edit for Dr. Z' pleasure.

Take one last look around the cave and see if there's anything he can decorate the club with. Either way, he should carry it around like a royal scepter, to compliment his crown.

Also, since we have no tarnishing of his name by shortening it, he shouldn't do the same injustice with pronouns; therefore he must always refer to himself by his full name.

Head for the secret area under the red spot of blood.

We should also start compiling a secret list of unrequested demands to be filled throughout the game behind your back so as to rate it at a level.

Go to the top of the hill you live in and look around.

Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth walked out of his cave and felt an almost new feeling, fresh air. he swiftly climbed his old mountain and had a look around him.

Behind Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth, there was a vast mountain range, he could also see some trees, and what he thought looked like stone blocks in the distance by the swamp. Down by the road, there was a human or elf camp with what he thinks is three people and one animal, also one tent.

Straight ahead of him he could clearly see a man and a wooden cart being pulled by one of the most tasty creatures known to Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth, a horse, indeed he felt a wee bit hungry as he gazed at the horse.

to the east was even more mountains and the road leading to unknown places.

to the west there was a large forest.

The red dot is Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth's home.

Where to?

He should be able to speak the local language, but it doesn't have to have a thick accent, since he's been asleep so long, he must use archaic terms, and as he learns the modern equivalents they must be used awkwardly.

the people nowadays speak like you'd normally expect a 21th century person to speak.

so Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth will talk like, "thou hath a wide variety of items in ye olde carriage, peasant."?

Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth walked down from his mountain hill to meet with the human.
Applying the first action of communication that came to mind, he waved at the peasant. The peasant gave Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth a startled look as he came to an abrupt halt, even the horse pulling the cart took notice.

"Hail yon tumbrilist!
I be Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth and I yearn to inquire of any tidings thou art amenable to disclose.
I also have want of the knowledge of what commodities you are transporting and if they be available for purchase." Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth said. He noticed that the peasant was shivering uncontrollably.

"H-h-hello." he uttered. "I d-don't understand w-what you are saying, Sir."
Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth was dumbfounded at the obviously low intelligence possessed by the man, he didn't understand what Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth was saying!
"I am but a simple peasant! I have in my cart of weapons and armour which i am to sell at Rustshire, have mercy!!"

Rustshire? Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth hadn't heard of this place.

Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth was puzzled as to why the peasant was so scared of him, after all, he simply greeted him. Things had obviously changed during his long slumber.

what should Thoeda'ar von Whippenton Zarda'an the Fifth do with the peasant?

Indeed!

Say to the peasant, "I hast want for a companion on my journey to this "Rustshire." I dcree you to be my Royal Steward/Jester/Food Source. If thy wish to duel because you dost not want to become so, I shall be forced to heave myself upon you in a heavy, squishing manner. Is that clear...eth?"

Yes, we should accompany him on his way to Rustshire, but we should checkout the weapons and armor first.
We should be polite and ask him his name, his occupation, and about his general status and wellbeing.
Any local news or rumors he could tell us would also be useful.
Ask him where he's from, how far he's travelled, and why he is alone.

Possible phrases to use:
By what name art thou hailed?
Art thou a thrall to a liege or art thou a yeoman?
Dist thou smithy these armaments or art thou a warmonger?
Thoeda'ar von Whppenton Zarda'an the Fifth hast just roused from a lengthy languor, so Thoeda'ar von Whppenton Zarda'an the Fifth may seem quite the quidnunc; but pray tell any happenstance -- or even just gossipry -- thou art perchance to know.
From whereabouts dist thou come hence and what is the farness of that place?
Why doest thou journey companionless?
