Spore and CC available for preorder through Direct2Drive
« on: June 06, 2008, 08:15:56 pm »
I'm quite shocked to see this... though, I guess, after Mass Effect I shouldn't be. Direct2Drive is now accepting preorders for both, and if you preorder both together in a bundle you get $5 off of Spore.

I'll probably actually buy Spore through this site. I've had good luck with them before, and unlike the EA downloader you only need to unlock once. (And, you can redownload however many times you want.)

*Edit to add link:

http://www.direct2drive.com/4/6182/product/Buy-SPORE-and-Creature-Creator-Special-Bundle-Download

That'll give you the limited time bundle. You can go to each of the individual items from there.

First thought.

How are they getting away with this?
Not that it's a bad thing...yet >_>
Kid: Oh wow I'm being deflowered by a grown woman!
Mother: By the way I'm your mother
Kid: OH GOD NO

EDIT: That's where it becomes rape if you were wondering.

Why would someone buy the Spore Creator and the Spore game itself, in a bundle?  ???

Because they want the CC when it's released on the 17th...  and get the $5.00 discount for the full version of the game...  Seems rather obvious to me.

Peace

Wow, I thought Direct2Buy was shut down. Why you ask back when Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 came out, they had it up for download 2 days before it was supposed to be released.

They wouldn't be shut down for that. In fact considering how sucky RCT3 was, if may have been a good thing. But no, you can't get shut down for that. They probably got fined, heavily, but unless they were going to go bankrupt, there was no reason to close.

Actually, the only thing that could happen with that is not getting any further games from that publisher. Given Direct2Drive's a pretty big-name site in the direct-download sales, I doubt the publisher would even have gone that far over a game like that.

If it goes to Steam, I'll buy it from there.  I don't like Direct2Drive, though.

I haven't purchased a game in roughly a decade so I'll be damned if I don't buy a physical copy this time.

i'm a fan of the GDC 2005 Spore video on Google Videos...

Yeah, but if you don't buy a physical copy you'll have no manual to read on the pot.

Once again, can you imagine just how clogged the servers will be? It'll take forever. You're better off buying a physical copy.

And if you buy from them, you will have to buy all subsequent expansions from them, as well as patches, because they use their own format.  In today's internet marketplace, depending on one single 3rd party source for all patches and expansions is really silly.
