I rather like how some games allow for Touch Screen control scheme or just normal buttons. FFIII did well with this. Though, I could never play Metroid Prime Hunters with just the buttons. I can't aim properly.

I started out using the touch screen for FF III but after I lost my stylus I was using standard button controls and once I bought some new styluses I was so used to the buttons the stylus seemed strange to use. I found the touch screen worked well for Animal crossing WW. I mostly used buttons for walking but most interactions I used the screen also navigating the menus would be a nightmare with out touch screen. My friend used the touch screen 100% of the time in AC WW.

Simple add ons like advance wars DS where they give you the option to use basic controls or the touch screen should be the norm for most games. When you have the option to vary the control schemes developers should try to accommodate.
The beatings will continue until morale improves
