Flat Creatures?
« on: May 01, 2008, 06:37:46 pm »
I didn't find anything along this topic when i searched, but that doesn't mean it's not there. If it's already been talked about please let me know.
I was wondering if it's possible to make the body more flat in any direction. From what I've seen it looks like when you use the mouse wheel to expand/shrink things it does it in all directions so the body is still round. Is it possible to only expand the body in one axes so that you could make a tall, wide and very skinny creature? or something more like a skinny lizard that lies almost flat on the ground but is very wide?

Yes, it is possible.  As seen in the case of a flat, blue, ameoba-like creature seen in one video.

You can bloat or shrink your creature with the mouse wheel along every bone in its spinal cord individually. So if you wanted to make your creature appear to have a beer-belly you could make its lower section bigger than its upper section - no problem, then position the legs on its torso a little off center and closer to its back to exaggerate its guts protrusion.

I dont think its possible to make a creature that is flat though. Creatures are always rounded.

Thats not actually flat, it's still rounded and pear shaped but with 'flagella' in a radial pattern which makes it look flat.

and also, i don't think it has legs or at least very small ones which makes it look flatter because it's close to the ground.

Why would you want a flat creature?  Making an evil pancake race or something?  If so, i shall make the waffle race.

Why wouldn't you want to make flat creatures? Flat in any of the x, y, or a axis would be cool: a creature so thin you can barely see it if it's coming straight at you, but then it turned sideways and it's really long from head to toe. Also things like thin lizards close to the ground.
