That looks good pat. Exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of.

I'll point out, however, that not everything need be tied to a system. I see no reason why there wouldn't be wandering generational ships or deep space facilities.

What I've also been toying with is a 'communal' identifier for some things we create. This would apply to certain technologies, organizations and so forth, which, once created would be freely available for other people to do what they wish with and incorporate into their own creations as they wish.

Say I created a religious organisation called the Cult of the Many. Either I could claim some sort of exclusivity on it, and say it only exists in my own system. Or I could designate it communal, which would allow other people to use it too. They could say, for example, that 14% of people on their system's capital planet are Manyians, who exist as a relative minority compared to practitionrs of the majority religion on that planet.

I hope that makes sense.

Yeah that makes perfect sense, and doing something like that would increase the different systems' relation to one another. It makes the whole thing better.

Aye, me too. But what about trade? What would be vaulable enough to trade to a system tens, if not hundreds light years away?

Definitely interested. I'll probably come up with a system as well. Is there going to be a template or not?

Uraium? Titanium? Hydrogen? I bet it would be mostly natural resources, but maybe cultural stuff aswell, and technology..

I think in page two we talked about Trade basically being impossible much like Space Warfare as the ships would move extremely slow through space.

No-one ever said trade would be impossible. It would just be more like the old fashioned sea trade, where voyages could take years.

I'd say natural resources would be the *least* likely trade goods. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure Hydrogen, metals and radioactive substances would be fairly common on just about any planet.

Manufactured and processed goods would be much more likely.

Each solar system would have something they are good at and maybe a few are in competition. I know my system will be big on processing iron and producing strong iron alloys.

I'm definitely joining this.

And knowing that Pat, do you think trade with other systems on that basis is likely?

Would the hauling costs outweigh the costs of advanced mining operations?

So is it just about creating a planet/solar system?

Or can we also go much deeper and say what the: history, people, environment and settlements are like? With pictures (if we want)?

I would love to do this, but I am afraid that I may go over the top.

It is not possible to go over the top. I recommend you do all that, if you can.

Ok, I will see if I can do that then.

And Brandonzza thank you for answering my question.

In my case, since the goods would be traveling across deep space, I see no reason why they couldn't just make a massive block of material and strap a few engines and a guidance system to it. No people would be needed and the goods would not decay over time. The large mass of goods could be docked outside of a planet/station and used as needed.

Would anyone mind if I made a culture that wasn't confined to a single system, but rather had stations scattered across the sector?
