*the pod of humpback whales come to aid the captain*

"Thank Poseidon for these magnificent creatures!"

*sadly they take him to a deserted island in the middle of nowhere ... in his underwear*

I had felt sorry for Hydro having to die over a plot device, but now, not so much.   ::)

Oddly, if the radio and engine sabotage had happened first, then Hydro declaring martial law would have made sense, but it happened to protect his career so it felt arbitrary and broke everyone's sense of disbelief.

I'm giving this RP thing a little shot.
I've not done this in years.

I suppose now I'll have to read everything very carefully.

If any of you need refreshers or tips on how to RP, this section offers two good guides.

We've got the rule topic and a how-to topic. Neither explicitly apply to this particular game but there is a wealth of knowledge hidden away in there that you may find useful. In addition, we've also got a bunch of great people down here who know a lot and would be happy to assist you.

Anyway, there's the belated welcome to the Storytelling & Roleplaying section for those of you who are not regulars here. Enjoy your stay! :)

Wait do I smell a spin off?

Yep. I am thinking about starting my own castaway thread. Since my character was there for such a short time and being on an island would not effect LadyM's story since I am assumed dead anyhow I figured I could make a nice new story off of it.

Haha sweet. Are you gonna use all the people thrown overboard, or just you/the captain.

I've just gotta wait for the thread to roll over to day 3. I don't think RPing in my characters current...ummm...situation, would be wholly appropriate.

I might if LadyM sends me them. The only reason I could do this is because I made my own character.

Now all i need is the First Mate, Celebrity, Scientist, some farm girl and a rich couple :P But mostly the scientist so he can make a coconut radio. :P Oh that professor.

It would be cool if you get the ghosts of the people that get killed too.  :D

Hydro, Hydro, Hydro.. why didn't I see that coming. :P Can you at least wait a few days?

I hope you guys know that I'm not an RP player but I'm doing the best I can. I'm mostly building a story using the "suspense of disbelief" theory. The Captain just wanted to keep his career clean without doing much work, like paperwork for a dead body. Much easier to get rid of it and make more drinks.

I'm actually not keeping ghosts this time. *delete* I have too many sims running around anyway without a ton of ghosts.

Also, I'm open to some plot suggestions if you want to pm me with your ideas. If it makes sense, I might use it.

Here is the Captain's role description, I guess I can post them as people leave:
Quote
Captain [Hydro]

Your years on the sea have been numerous and trying, as a Captain it is your job to keep the ship (and the passengers) on course. Authority, levelheadedness, and people skills are the cornerstones of your job description. All of the perks of a high ranking officer in the Navy are yours to enjoy; the private bathroom, personal manservant (First Mate), and the admiration of all those around you are just some of the things you'll have to look forward to!

Of course life on the sea is not all fun and games, being a captain is serious business and you didn't toil away in the brig for years on end to resign yourself to a life of obscurity. Lesser men would have let such a thing get to them over time, but not you! No, you're a man of rare form! So you tend to be a little overzealous with your mid-morning drink, big deal! And what if by early evening you're too inebriated to pilot the ship, bah, that's why the made First Mates! You're the best darn captain around and everyone knows it (If they don't they can be rest assured that you'll tell them!), so sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride, captain! We salute you!

As each person is killed or thrown off, put their bio in the original post.

My suggestion was to send them to Hydro, to deal with them.  :D
I'm not a Sims player, :o  ;), so I don't have the foggiest idea if that is even possible.

I think you just need a neat freak who is against drinking. (Cue odd couple theme)

The first person he meets should not be a woman either. (ala caveman)

You know, dolphins would have made a better carrier than whales. ;)
