Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Soulstorm released!
« on: March 05, 2008, 03:32:10 pm »
Yup, it's finally out, the final expansion to Relic's popular Dawn of War RTS. Get it while it's hot.

I'll probably buy it off Steam later today (considering it isn't on Steam yet for some reason...).

I say NO! to all limits.
Unfortunately, I don't think we're far enough into the Civ stage to have deveoped into the 'Infinite-ghz processing' research tree yet...

very fun. the sisters of battle are very fun to play, and dark eldar will make any DOW fan feel differently about the eldar race in general. air units are pretty cool, but i wish they had given a little more than 1 air unit for each faction. worth the money for sure though!

The Warp Spiders weren't done justice, the Swooping Hawk and Striking Scorpion aspect warriors are conspicuously absent, as are Wraithguard and the Harlequins were a bit of a lame sidenote rather than a genuinely useful part of the army. But somehow I don't think thats what Swamp is referring to.

No i agree on that. And i do not think that Swamp was referring that ether. I like the Eldar in the game even if they lack a few units i would have liked to see.

Oh, sorry for being vague. I was referring to the wispy/feminine look and feel the orginal Eldar had.

Well Eldar are feminine. Maybe even more so then Sisters of battle. And that is saying a lot >_>

But yeah Dark Eldar have always felts more masculine. Never like them however. I played them a bit in the demo and they where cool there but not grate. Sill not fan of them. I do like Dark Elfs in Warhammer Fantasy a lot better. Oddly enough there more feminine to.

Maybe i just like Feminine stuff?

That's one of the reasons I prefer IG over Eldar; Eldar units are just so... Fragile.

well hey, too each his own. i have no problem playing the sisters of battle, their being females does not bother me, but playing the eldar who have many male character that act like females that bothers me. I think its cause I like to rp with myself in my head as i play, so if im playing the game as a feminine guy, its just not that fun.

Huh? The Tau are basically nothing at all like the Protoss. If any Warhammer 40k race is like the Protoss its the Eldar, and they're nothing like the Protoss either. Also, Imperial Guard are people in space. Space Marines are genetically augmented super-jocks in super-hard power armour wielding weapons that fire little miniature rockets... in space!

Yeah. The only two similarities between Tau and Protoss is advanced technology and that the base color of Tau is Yellow. Protoss is more eldar like then Tau like.

(Well there both pretty humanion but so are all the good guy races :P)

Tau have more Human like legs (But there feet are different for humans. But there not Protoss like.)

And i have not seen any Tau with Protoss like 'Hair'.

There are many difference. Everything form culture to biology. Sure there many Similarities  to. But there many Similarities between Humans and Tau to.

Let me just say this, Soul storm is probably one of the most retarded things relic has added into the Dawn of War games. Sure they probably added them so the game is complete in a way, but hardly anyone that I have faced in the miniatures, played one of those armies. Because they were not fun to play as.

Now as for my Tau Army, I could destroy even the best Ork or Space Marine player.

Oh yeah, the writing and voice acting is absolutely terrible.

It probably went over a lot of people's heads, but one of the Eldar Warlocks that hangs around the farseer in the Eldar stronghold speaks with a noticeable yorkshire/lancashire accent.  :D

The thing that annoys me most, however, will probably strike a chord with at least a few other people:

Bump!

Me and Celdur were playing this on multiplayer earlier. Anyone else still playing DoW that would want to join us for future games? The more the merrier  :)

Maybe if we get enough interest in this we can get a little tournament going.

Oh, I just remembered the extremely inspiring speach by Comander Boreale.

SPESS MEHRINES, Today the Enehmeh is at our Doar. We know our Dueteh and we will do it. We ifight for our Honoor as Spess Mehrines, We fight in the name of the Empeher. If we die this day we die in glory, we die hehros deahths, but we shall not die this day no. It is our enemeh that will be our enehmeh that will taste deahth and defeet, as you no. Most of our Bahtell brothers are stationed in spess, prepehered to deep strihke! WE ARE THE SPESS MEHRINES! WE ARE THE EMPEHRERS FURY!

Pff, everyone knows Angelos is the best because he looks and sounds like Captain Picard.

Anyway, seems I actually suck with Space Marines when I'm playing against a human. I do well as Eldar or Necrons though :)
