No, I'm a big baby and I don't want to play any of you. Look at me, I'm a weener and I just play SSBB all to myself. I should feel guilty of choosing this option.

The Smash Tournament Thread - World Special!
« on: March 04, 2008, 03:40:35 pm »

Welcome!

One and all to the Gaming Steve Smash Tournament Organization. All members are invited to join in on a community exclusive event. Pit yourself against the likes of our many members of Gaming Steve and see who deserves to be crowned the smash king.

Now introducing a new world special. All Gaming Steve members from all regions are invited to participate in an exhibition. The Single-Elimination roster system will still be used. Each match will consist of 3 rounds. Each round will be a 2 stock match with a 3 minute time limit. The first one to win 2 out of 3 rounds wins. Only the loser will announce the results to me.

Any other suggestions, errors, or questions please post them.

Swiss pairing seems to require a bit of maintenance. I was going for a single-elimination system to keep it simple. Perhaps we can put this forward to everyone. What do you guys think?

We could always try a round-robin system, meaning that everyone fights every other player once and is then ranked based on wins and losses.

Round Robin sounds good, although I'd still prefer swiss-paired. However, you are right about the maintenance part.

Sign me up. I vote for single-elimination. Also do we have to commit to a character? I like to go ramdom myself, of course i could fall in love with someone when all this gets started.
I need a new tag.

I added a poll. Excluding the single format, the others are a bit confusing. Perhaps I can entrust those of you who suggested them to manage those formats. Otherwise, I won't be able to handle them.

A similar tournament will be held once the EU gets their release and champions from both sides will face off in an international epic battle as they represent their region of the Gaming Steve forums.

Bear in mind you will be held to this. When the time comes it had better not just flake out and never happen.

I can't guarantee that I will due to time and unforseen circumstances. Though that shouldn't stop anyone else for taking the lead if I'm not available for it.

To keep things from being pretentious rounds should be two to three minutes with ten lives.

2-3 minutes are short.

A standard 5 stock, no time limit should be fine. Opportunists/Spectators will not be tolerated.
