AWESOME video!

Also, they ruined the Swastika too, which was originally a Buddhist symbol. They also ruined the term Nationalist Socialist.

er, no. socialism kills

Er, no. Misapplied ideals kill. Socialism doesn't, in principle, cause death.
Quote from: The Will
In a movie, one can always pull back and condemn the character or the artist ... But in playing a game ... we can be encouraged to examine our own values by seeing how we behave within virtual space.
tl;dr. But with all those shiny symbols and numbers it's probably awsome.

"So a two legged dinosaur...
will walk very differently...
from an eight-legged killer sausage."

I haven't heard something that funny in a while.

Post it anyway, the translation is pretty crappy. It's got places where it doesn't even translate.

Umm, ... ok...
Here is it then:

"The next step to world domination is the creature phase, in which my clearly bigger protozoa from the primordial ooze crawls to land. Then I upgrade it into a real life-form in the editor first. For this I change the body shape, which is very simple. When I click a vertebra, I can drag the sceleton into position. When I turn the mouse-wheel, the selected part will become thicker or thinner. After that, I add some legs, mouth and the eyes. Finally arranging some decoration spikes on the back and - yes, oh yeah! The critter needs arms too, somehow.
Surely the beastie is especially proud of its poison spit gland on its tail, which I have to test right now. Besides the given components like mouthes and eyes, Spore doesn't set creative boundaries. My animal looks, as I want it to be, so for example like this too: With this ... six-legged antlered dinosaur I'm going on exploration tour. The goal of the creature phase is the same like the cell's one: eating, getting larger, upgrading animal.
My critter gains new body parts by eating sceletons. Furthermore it can eat the flesh of dead animals.
If my creature is getting attacked sometime, it can blurt out a mating call, so that conspecifics come to the rescue. While battling these demon-like critters, I even get some bonus DNA-points, which I can invest in new body parts. With those I can for example make my creature stronger or improve its dancing skill. So the creature phase equals an action role-playing game, in which I upgrade my hero bit by bit. At the same time, my life-form gets smarter and smarter. Finally it has to build a first tribe together with its fellows.
The development of my tribe starts with a hut village together with a fire and a few occupants. At first they lumber around a bit, but this will change soon. The happy smileysaur with the pink hearts floating above its head is my chieftain by the way.
Now I command his subordinates like in a real-time-strategy game: I select them via frame and give them goals. Here I let them dance around the fire. Not only does that look funny, but it's also beneficial. Namely is makes the beasties faster for a short time. By the way: Spore adjusts the animations to the body-form of the creatures: Of course such a bipedal smileysaur dances entirely differently than a ... umm, lets say, an eight-legged carnivore Teewurst.
However the main goal of my tribe is to gather food again. And this works best while hunting. So my dinosaurs are biting some of these green eye-crawlers to get their meat. Then they return the meat to the village. It later is used as currency for new huts.
And thus my critters are gathering more and more until one day they'll rule the wor- Damn! What's that?! Anyway it's something big with appetite for smileysaurs. Oh man, this location doesn't seem to be safe now... Oh no, and the giant thing can make itself invisible too. Oh well, the beast seems to eat my entire tribe, only the chieftain survives. This way hunting won't be successfull. I have to get food otherwise.
Now my leader could gather berries, but, honestly, that would be kinda boring. So I invest the gathered food in a new fishing hut. The arsenals are too expensive ... yet.
Thus my leader lonely goes to the beach and catches fish. But because that would be a too sad ending for this video, I'm going to tell you about the two other phases, from which EA didn't let us record a video.
After you took over enough other tribal villages in the tribal phase, your creatures will build a city. From there they conquer the world through wars, trades or diplomacy. And the one who unites the whole world, finally can build a space ship, explore the galaxy and meet other races in the last and endless phase of Spore."

While we are doing translations, does anyone have a translation of the german interview with Lucy Bradshaw? I know SpaceOddity has an excerpt on her blog but that is a short excerpt for such a long interview. Or, does anyone have any additional translated excerpts of that article on things we didn't know before the article was published. I know spaceoddity mentioned natural disasters in regards to that article in another thread and it wasn't mentioned in her blog.
