This forum thinks everything is easy. Underwater would be easy, flying would be easy. (the team said recently it would be very difficult) Tool editor would be easy. Remember back in 2006 when some said spore was mostly done? If they do it in civ, it would be "easy" to make all of spore a strategy game, but I dont think they should. Or, just sell spore as a strategy game and be done with it. Easy.

I think that they should have fleets in the Space Phrase, but they can't do the things the UFO does or are as powerful.  I really want to be able to engage an enemy fleet above their planet, defeat them and then land troops.
Yes. Power shifts more quickly than some people think.

No, I'm not God. But I'm a close second.

You know this could be a topic that could be inserted into the expansion packs thread. :P
That seems like a better solution, if they can't fit it into the original game how'bout an expansion pack edition?!
Kid: Oh wow I'm being deflowered by a grown woman!
Mother: By the way I'm your mother
Kid: OH GOD NO

EDIT: That's where it becomes rape if you were wondering.

Agreed. :)

Anywho, if you can make a fleet only from your affiliated races, can you still make them uniform in appearance? :-\

Though, in the end, its all up to the devs to decide. :)

With the limited amount of information provided about space combat, I'm finding it difficult to see how the space combat aspect will hold up in the long term. My frustration is compounded by Maxis' secrecy regarding this. Thus far we know from several articles that there will be a space fleet made up of your allies. As far as has been confirmed, every race will have just one UFO. This does solve the problem of managing a navy when your empire envelops dozens of worlds. I was not expecting Spore to be Sins of a Solar Empire but at the same time, simple does not have to mean easy or boring. It looks like the the civ combat will be more interesting. At least there you get three types of vehicles, land, sea, and air. We don't even know if it is possible to carry ground vehicles for an invasion. In conclusion, it seems like space combat will boil down to a simple numbers game.

I'm hoping that the reason for all the secrecy in the civ and space phases is because Will Wright has come up with great way to handle the combat aspect and we will all be laughing for doubting Maxis. Maybe Maxis doesn't want other developers to know of the solution yet so it won't get incorporated in other games quite so quickly or until Spore has hit the shelves. I understand that many people out there are not interested in the combat aspect and that is fine. But combat is one of the three main ways of interacting with other races and to drop the ball on combat would be devastating for the game's sustainability. In addition, even if you play the game completely non-aggressively, we know that there are other races that are aggressive and will attack you. So the game might as well have an entertaining combat system.

If only I weren't so jaded and cynical.
