Even Napalm Death would be another band, including Godflesh right?

Decent, but I don't really consider them a band, since it is based around a show.

I don't like Napalm Death very much, but I have never listened to Godflesh. Aren't they more of an "industrial" metal band? I may have to check them out though.

Once upon a time I was quite the avid death/black/power metal fan.

Some favorites include:

Dimmu Borgir
Old Man's Child
Satyricon
Katakylsm
Slayer
Brujeria
Deicide
8 Foot Sativa
In Flames
Iced Earth

And my still all time favorite in the world is Opeth.

All hail Opeth. That is all :)

I like the death metal actually, a lot of it is quite good.

Of course I have no recollection of any of the bands (Although Lamb of God sounds familiar) or names of songs, but that carries through to every realm of the music that I like.

Well this is what he's talking about Snake. And looking it up would be more useful instead of a post in which you don't assist at all :P. Look at me sounding like an admin :D!! But really, basically it's an extreme heavy metal subgenre that is obviously very popular in Europe; and it even has taken root in America.

Personal attacks are against the rules so I'd watch it if I were you Snake.
Seriously, do this to me and or anyone else you could get reported :-\.
I am not taking this personally so you're getting off easy, but maybe I shouldn't
have made that remark either :-X

*Ahem*, where was I...oh, yes Black Sabbath's Iron Man was really good. Also another great hit was Master of Puppets by Metallica; one of its best selling albums if I am correct :).

You damn right, they are rock, not metal, that also includes Ozzy and Black Sabbath. This thread should have been called Metal because there are certain categories for the music you listen to.

I made the thread, not him, so what does it matter? Outta my thread, boy! ;)

Also, Metallica is officially classified as thrash metal, atleast in the early days. Later, they are more melodic metal. Ozzy for sure isn't metal, however Sabbath is debatable.

This band has one of the greatest histories of all time, in my opinion. I love reading about all the story behind them, its fascinating. Also, look up the picture of the suicide scene. Pretty brutal, but I don't mind things like that. Rather like it, actually.

Anyways, has anyone heard about Dissection? Their vocalist, Jon, committed suicide. He was a pure satanist for sure, and classified himself as "anti-cosmic". Strangely, the days before his suicide were some of the happiest days he ever had, according to his friends. He didn't commit suicide because of depression or anything like that, he did it because he felt he had achieved all of the goals he had in his life, and took his life to make room for others. Brutal.

Also, Decapitated's drummer (Vitek) died fairly recently... Tragic. He recorded the Winds of Creation when he was only 15 years old. Thats insane.

Hey, you know you're not supposed to double post right? I'm only warning you that so the moderators don't get to you later when you post on other topics.

Well moving on from that. I haven't anything new about Metallica other than that Masters of Puppets album remastered from other metal bands. Her's a song for example that Chimaira played Disposable Heores

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo00md6Lch4

In case you want more songs from Chimaira, I'll post another clip on here some other time.

Wow, haha I wish I'd have checked the music section more often...Metal is my music.

All time favorites are Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Dio...I've seen Megadeth and Dio play live, when they were touring under Dio's version of Black Sabbath (which is indisputably metal; it's the godfather of metal for gods sake...), but I've yet to see Iron Maiden. Hah, until recently I was all bummed out they only had a single show planned for the east coast: a sold out venue in New Jersey. But a couple nights ago I checked the tour calender, and they've got like 5 more, and one of them is in Cleveland, Ohio, like maybe 45 minutes driving time!! So freakin' excited, I'm gonna see Maiden!!!

But yeah, 'nyways...am I the only one who's sick of all the damn screaming these new metal bands are doing?? At least to my ears, every new metal band is starting to sound the same, with a screamo front man and most of the time a thrash drummer. I know they can be extremely different instrumentally, but the screaming always seems to distract from that. I'm always looking for new music, especially new metal, so it's a huge disappointment when I go to a myspace or whatever and start to dig the music, until I hear them start screaming. Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Children of Bodom, In Flames, etc...

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I wish there were more metal bands out there with good vocals...

I saw Chimaira play during Sounds of The Underground...they put on an insane show! All I remember is staring across the entire concert venue and seeing one gigantic mosh pit...of course GWAR stole the show at the very end...

But it's the same thing...their singer turns me off.

Were you at the Starland Ballroom parking lot on July in 2007? I was there the same day Sounds of the Underground Tour was around. I was amazed to see Chimaira and these other bands that year. Also, I saw the same band again, yet Chimaira was not the headliner. The last day they toured in the U.S. was in Sayreville, NJ. I got a lot of pictures of them on my cellphone. To say the least, that was the best thing that made me feel resurrected after 3 days of HSPA testing. :)

Nope I saw them at Tower City Ampitheater in Cleveland, OH...stupid #!@$%ing Ticketmaster screwed up and said they started at 6:00 instead of like 2:00, and I ended up missing like two-thirds of the bands. But they were the crappier opening bands so oh well...:-) I got there in time to see Every Time I Die (of my favorites now, they're shows are always the most fun) and Chimaira. Both of them were pretty awesome...then some iffy band named Shadows Fall played right before GWAR, which kicked my ass all over the place ;D!! Then friggin' Mushroom Head was like our "bonus band" at the end cuz they're from Ohio...but man did they blow.

Anyways...Cannibal Corpse scares me. I'm pretty sure every guy in that band has murdered at least ten people.

Hahahaha..well that sounds pretty odd as hell to be honest. Chimaira should have been the headliner for the tour, tell me if I'm wrong. Anyway, I feel bad that Ticketmaster F-ed you about the time, I would have beaten the employees that were slacking on the job.

I dunno...the whole "shocking" lyrics thing never did it for me. Bands like Cannibal Corpse and Lord Gore (they're both friggin' crazy) are kind of a huge turnoff for me. But then again, crazy thing is I like GWAR. Haha...weird. But I guess it's because when they sing about torture and stuff, it's funny and tounge-in-cheek, whereas CC and LG are...serious. And scary.

Slipknot aren't death metal? I'm no expert on death metal but I'm pretty sure slipknot plays death metal.

Also, you gain 10 experience points in thread necromancy. 8 of them earned for a not really informative post.

Reported for language.

Me personally, I prefer Heavy Metal, like Metallica because it can actually be understood.

Master of Puppets is way too popular though. It's like the only album some people seem to know about.

And you get ignorant people asking, "Wasn't Enter Sandman on Master of Puppets? HURF DURF". They know the album name, but none of the songs on it. Forget about people knowing any other albums, except maybe Death Magnetic, if they were paying attention.

P.S. Am I the only person that thinks popularity has no relation to quality? I mean, people say "It's popular, now it sucks." Same thing with people who only listen to the most hardcore, underground bands, refusing to think that anything else is any good. Explanations? Justifications?

I like Opeth, not exactly death metal, but it's metal enough.

It's like heavy metal merged with Dream Theater.

actually Opeth is considered progressive death-metal, and yeah, they rock!

Please back up your unnecessary adjective use. You can't just state your opinions, you should give reasons.

If this is directed at me then in what way do you want me to ""back up my unnecessary adjective use"? My personal oppinion is that nu-metal suck, big time. And that`s really all i have to explain.

Does the song in the intro cutscene of Brutal Legend count as nu-metal? Cause, yeah, that's just balls awful.

P.S. If you don't know what I'm talking about, go DL the Brutal Legend demo...

Heard of Brutal legend. Looks cool. Yeah, only having something for consoles, there's no need. Port it to the PC.

It's because of the yarr harring fiddelee dee'ing of computer games that are released that scare developers, making them think making their games console exclusive a good idea.
