Put them inside eachother, with the part you want to connect overlapping, then use the fixate tool on that spot. Also, if you zoom in when you use the fixate tool, then it won't be so annoyingly big.

Water molecules, with friction and bounciness set to conserve all energy and not leave anything as heat. I keep on picking them up and dropping them to get a phase change to happen.

Consider adding air molecules, if thats even possible.
