It would be pretty cool to have a family tree like that. To see what kind of changes people have made to your creature.

im sure users will be able to make creatures with names the same as others

im sure users will be able to copy other users creatures

remember this isnt online, so if you find a copy, you could flag it, but really it wont affect you much because you probably wont ever see it unless you add it manualy.

and lets face it, theres going to be tons of copies, but you wont care because youll love the game, and those that are hardcore creators just there for making content and building  a name for themselves amongst the creation lists, im sure they will have options to open disputes with players about their content if copied

haha, I just had a vision:
<Logs-on to sporepedia and checks creatures>
"Wow, lots of people have done spin-offs using my creature, I wonder what kind of imaginative and creative things these people have come up with!"
<clicks on a link>
"hmm, this creature looks remarkably like a pair of....erm..."family jewels"
"and, and this one as well..."
"and that one...."
"AAAAGH!"

As Inevitable as Life Itself. Spread the Joy.

I hope people embrace Spore as a platform for open-source creativity and not try vainly try to attempt to hold onto what they perceive as their intellectual property. Content creators for The Sims are prime example of how this type of thinking can ultimately hurt the community as whole.

If you are the type of person who would get upset about seeing copies of your work remember these things:

1. If your content is popular enough that you start seeing numerous clones made by other users, then it is very likely that you, as creator, will be remembered and generally acknowledged as being the originator by a relatively large group of people.

2. If someone "steals" your idea, it's because they thought it was good and you should be flattered.

3. Finally, the time you spend defending your creation could be used to making better, more innovative content.

if someone takes your creature and alters it slightly it should have a small space with a link to the creature it was based on. if you follow the link, you'll eventually get to the original.

As for recreations, I'm sure you can report them in a way similar to reporting lewd creations, but I really don't think it's worth going through the trouble. You're best bet todeal with it is to be flattered that they liked your creature and move on.

I don't think i would come over to many nauceans that are as popular as hydro's will be. If I am Very sure that I want exactly THE naucean I would make sure it was "brand name". I, for one will change my GS name to whatever my Display name turns into so that everyone will know that if it has a patsplats tag it Will probably be low quality :).

EDIT: at 48 seconds left top of screen there it says by so the items are tagged if you can sipher the video you can find other stuff about the browser.

How about someone Parodying your content?  ;D

That sounds like the basis for a good metagame or contest.

That's an awesome idea!!
