The Dwarven fortress adventures of Nil kast
« on: February 03, 2008, 03:30:14 pm »
so i wont just start the fortress yet

there are a few things we need to do before we can send our dwarves to there demise:

where are we going to set up camp? flat land..or mountains, or...i dont know...in the midle of a goblin camp?

the advantage of flat land is that its easier to survive and stuff like that...the disadvantage is that its lavaless and there is less cool underground

the advantage of a mountain area is the coolnes since it should have lava and maybe some cool monsters lurking inside...the bad side is that the slopes make the area confusing and annoying to build on

goblin camp speaks for itself  ::)

note that i will always try to find a river area since we dont want our dwarves to die thirsty(we want to see them thorn apart)

another question is how are we going to do this? i though of just naming the dwarves after forum people and then let the people vote what we should do next like building an underground river or making a giant lava wall of death

and also if you want to join then post it here

Sign me up.

Also, if you prefer flat land over mountains, then go for the frickin' desert.
Unless that spells certain doom, go for grassy plain.

I demand there be a Krakow Sam dwarf.

Oh, and choose Ice. Ice fortresses are cool.

I figured a mountain because I had my first succesful Fortress by one. (YES thanks to your support I got an operational Fortress).
There should be a Durgon Dwarf, that can defend everyone from the evil Goblins. (My successful Fortress got ownd by the Goblins :( )

Mountain, 'cus I want lava.

I'm hoping to get a Neoadept Dwarf on the team, perhaps?  He will construct the traps to crush goblins beneath rock, lava, and the occasional room of slowly rising water.
Nefarious?  Nearly.  Ne’er-do-well?  Never!  Neither nearly names this narrator.  Naive and knowledgeable, notorious and inscrutable, this nascent Nero is known naturally as Neoadept.

Note too: the LEVEL_UP and LEVEL_DOWN keys have been changed to / and * on the keypad!! Remember this!

I'm thinking a mountain in a frozen wasteland.  Mountain of Madness-esque.

Could we have the living area in flat plains near a mountain and just strip mine the mountain flat?

Slartibartfast will work with stone.  Miner/Mason/Engraver.

cool, also with a mountain you can usually have some sort of water based doomsday device - I'll explain more later.
What have you got against intellectual midgets? They're quite smart little guys as far as i can tell.

I'll be a Lumberdwarf, I'm alright.

there is only ice and i dont have the heat yet to make it water

so our dwarves cant drink or make crops

unles anyone has an idea im not going to go icy...unles you want this game to be short

Is there anyway to bring ice inside and melt it near a fire?  We could make a pool.

If you dig down far enough you might find a level warm enough to sustain liquid water. Also, aren't there native beasts to hunt for food?
