It looks like it could be funny, but at the same time skippable/rentable.

I just wanted to post here to say that only a person who never payed any attention in history class would think a movie called "Hancock" had anything to do pornography. ::)

Saw the preview for this when I saw I am Legend, how ironic. Well it looks ok, maybe not the best movie on earth but it looks good. Will's having a great year so far with the success of his last film, so maybe he could pull of this next one.

Yeah screw justice, preservation and crime fighting gets you nothing. Being evil would be awsome, but the only downfall to that is power eventually controls you not the other way around.

I think it looks pretty funny, the way they randomly destroy millions worth of stuff...it's almost satire. Could be good, could be horrendous, all depending on how they interpret the subject.

By pr0n, do you mean "C00l!" or "porn!"

Quote from: wikipedia.org
Pr0n
Pr0n or pron is Leet slang for pornography. This is a deliberately inaccurate spelling/pronunciation for porn, where a zero is often used to replace the letter O. It is sometimes used in legitimate communications (such as email discussion groups, Usenet, chat rooms, and internet web pages) to circumvent language and content filters, which may reject messages as offensive or spam. The word also helps prevent search engines from associating commercial sites with pornography—which might result in unwelcome traffic. Pr0n is also sometimes spelled backwards (n0rp) to further obscure the meaning to potential uninformed readers. It can also refer to ASCII art depicting pornographic images, or to photos of the internals of consumer and industrial hardware. Prawn, a spoof of the misspelling, has started to come into use, as well; in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, a pornographer films his movies on 'Prawn Island'. Conversely, in the RPG Kingdom of Loathing, prawn, referring to a kind of crustacean, is spelled pr0n, leading to the creation of food items such as “pr0n chow mein”.

I just saw this the other day.

Bleh.
The first half was okay. Kind of funny and not bad.
But then it just kind of changed, and it didn't feel right at all.

If you're gonna see it, go right ahead. It's not a bad movie necessarily; I just don't like where it went towards the end is all.

Came out July 1st. Went to go see it. I agree with Gauspastus. The first half was fairly funny but the second half was slow and had not real direction.  My friend had seen part of a pirated copy and knew the twist in the movie. It was painfully obvious and I called it extremely early on.

I also thought WIll Smith looked REALLY old. It's like his face really matured. I caught myself a few times during the movie reminding myself that was actually Will Smith.

Funny thing about the site name too.
But yeah, the article reveals a few things that happened as time went on.

That article is pretty accurate. It seemed like halfway through the movie become something entirely different. It wasn't bad per se, but it was so different from everything that had happened before that it seemed more like watching two seperate movies.

I agree, again I go back to what I said, they threw in the twist which pushed the movie in this totally different direction and the whole second half of this movie was this mess.. It was like they were trying to figure out a quick way to get it done. Did they ever say that line in the trailer. The news reporter saying "Hancock is down, it looks like he's hurt"? I don't know if I just missed it or not.

---SPOILERS---

I was sort of confused with the criminals. The one scene they claim Hancock took their power. Which sorta hinted they may be evil versions of Hancock. And The wife said "they" hunted all the ones like them.. or something like that.  Which sorta caused confusion. I think a better twist would have been if Jason Bateman was part of some evil entity or something that has been hunting these people for all time. And at the end Jason Bateman killed Hancock and the wife killed him.

I liked it, and i think it was worth me following all those years.
Yeah, it does sort of diverge into two separate movies, and the ending is very 'Hollywood', but it's still a great film.
The effects are great.
It's very funny.
The story, if slightly predictable, is still far more original than a lot of films currently out, and more original than 50% of Will's movies.
And it's all explained to some degree, if not quite set up properly.

--Spoilers--

Yes, you can kind of guess the main twist pretty early on, but the ending could've gone a number of ways. Personally I was hoping for a 'if one dies, they both die' thing.
I was also quite happy that they didn't use any "that's why the sex was so good" lines when the husband discovers the truth...

I have to agree that the effects were really well done. Specifically how things got destroyed. When Hancock picked up a car, the car (for the most part) didnt have supermans anti gravity support, the cars deformed around where he held it, and didnt freeze in one form after being crumpled (they continued to flex and bend as he held them). There are a few exceptions, but the destruction is the least "suspension of disbelief" destroying thing about this film.

Just got back from this. Good movie, but as others have said, starts great, ends flat. If you want an idea fo the 'flow', watch the first half of Men In Black and then the second half of Blade Runner. (yes the transition is almost that bad).

Good cheap seat movie. Worth renting.

I liked the movie more as it went on. And I don't mean just to the halfway mark, but ALL the way to the end.

Am I the only one that thinks the "Jump and fall. Jump some more and fall. Etc" scene at the end was epicly done?

I saw this the other day. I'm catching up on some movies. I really enjoyed it, totally unexpected superhero type movie. I felt compassion for the guy and then the plot twist was pretty cool. I'm glad the ending ended up on a somewhat happy place. At least no one died though he would be alone.
