RTS Games Help...
« on: December 27, 2007, 01:03:56 pm »
My birthday is comin' up soon, and I'm askin' for some RTS games for mah new laptop... What should I get? Price may be a bit of a problem, since my birthday is a week after Christmas and no one ever wants to get me anything that soon.

But, so far I'm askin' for Supreme Commander (with the Forged Alliance expansion), Universe at War, and Dawn of War Anthology... I'm considering Starcraft as well.

I have...
AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-58, at 1900 MHz.
64 KB and 1,024 KB L1 and L2 caches, respectively.
98.9 GB free hard disk space.
NVIDIA MCP67M graphics card.
1GB DDR2 RAM.
Windows Vista Home Premium.

I'm not sure Supreme Commander will run well, but I'm pretty confident most other RTS games will work reasonably good...

I say NO! to all limits.
Unfortunately, I don't think we're far enough into the Civ stage to have deveoped into the 'Infinite-ghz processing' research tree yet...

dont get supcom...i also though it would be an awsome game but its super super boring...you could complete contra 4 in one mission and then you didnt even do anything yet...its soooooo slow and all you do is build

i would say medievel 2: total war and C&C3

Supreme Commander is slow as all hell, yeah. It's more of an RTS for the very patient.

Do you have Pixelshader 1.1? If you don't then I'm afraid you can't play Company of Heroes and M2:TW.

Buy RTW or MTW for great fun, I know some good mods that you can use in case Vanilla Rome isn't as good as you hoped.

It depends what kind of rts games do u like. Do you like the base building parts or the ones that throw you right into the action. It also depends on what kind of story do u like. I could recomend World in conflict or if you do the Age series.

Another under-rated RTS that would most definitely work on your laptop as it is a few years old is Homeworld and Homeworld 2. Very good games.
The one and only JamDunc.

Sounds like your asking to get burried under a pile of Starcraft suggestions.

The lord of the rings battle for middle earth 2.

One of the best RTS games i have ever played and i am not even a LOTR fan.
