"In all the human societies we have ever reviewed, in every age and in every state, there has seldom if ever been a shortage of eager young males prepared to kill and die to preserve the security, comfort and prejudices of their elders, and what you call heroism is just an expression of this fact; there is never a scarcity of idiots."

he had come for me, and informed me that he was a page.

"Go 'long," I said; "you ain't more than a paragraph."

From A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain. It's in the beginning of the story when the main character starts to realize that he had gone back in time and met (the page) Clarence. For some reason that line stuck out in my mind.

"You horrid, horrid beast! Oh, the puire wee girl.."
"No, no! It's for me!"

You gave two hundred dollars for it?

"There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: this glass is half full. And then there are those who say: this glass is half empty. The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass! "
