If you've got a passage from a book that caught your attention for whatever reason, share it with us here! As for me, I found Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton whilest searching for an actual good book among the piles of throw-away fiction that is my mothers bookshelf. I can't believe this book, it's amazing. Malcom is by far the best character. We only know him for one page and he says this: "But don't you find it boring to wear only two colors?"
"Not at all. I find it liberating. I believe my life has value, and I don't want to waste it thinking about clothing," Malcolm said. "I don't want to think about what I will wear in the morning. Truly, can you imagine anything more boring than fashion? Professional sports, perhaps. Grown men swatting little balls, while the rest of the world pays money to applaud. But, on the whole, I find fashion even more tedious than sports."
"Dr. Malcolm," Hammond explained, "is a man of strong opinions."
"And mad as a hatter," Malcolm said cheerfully. "But you must admit, these are nontrivial issues. We live in a world of frightful givens. It is given that you will behave like this, given that you will care about that. No one thinks about the givens. Isn't it amazing? In the information society, nobody thinks. We expected to banish paper, but we actually banished thought."

In addition to Brandonazz choice, I would like to add books 1-3 in the guide series. Everything from where the plans for the demolition of Arthur's house are in the first book, to Ford's explanation of why he had gone mad in the third.
I love the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. I curse whatever manner of being that felt it appropriate to take Douglas Adams from us.

A bounty of $1 million was placed on the head of 'the Danish cartoonist' by a Pakistani imam - who was apparently unaware that there were 12 different Danish cartoonists, and almost certainly unaware that the three most offensive pictures had never appeared in Denmark at all (and by the way, where was that million going to come from?). In Nigeria, Muslim protesters against the danish cartoons burned down several Christian churches, and used matchetes to attack and kill (black Nigerian) Christians in the streets. One Christian was put inside a rubber tyre, doused with petrol and set aligt. Demonstrators were photographed in Britain bearing banners saying 'Slay those who insult Islam, 'Butcher those who mock Islam', 'Europe you will pay: Demolition is on its way' and, apparently without irony, 'Behead those who say Islam is a violent religion.
