PS2 Co-op
« on: November 17, 2007, 02:39:53 am »
My brother and I own a Playstation 2 for quite a while now, but the only game we own that can be played together is Gran Turismo 4, and that's against each other, not with each other. So we started looking around for good co-op games. But the problem is, that there aren't too many games with co-op, and it's difficult to know if it's good co-op. So, since this is a gaming forum, I thought I could ask here: Does any of you know a good co-op game for the PS2?

TimeSplitters? It's an amazing game, and if my recollection is correct my mate and I played co-op on it. Loved that game... I slept over at his house on Friday night, played TimeSplitters and watched DVD's until about 4 o'clock, slept until 11 or so, stayed there the entire day (playing TimeSplitters, we were making multiplayer maps) then stayed that night as well... ahhh, fun times.

...Get that game. NOW!

I can't recall whether it's the PS2 or the PS3 that has downloadable titles. If it's the PS2, and you fancy a bit of retro co-op then I strongly urge you to get Gauntlet II. It's my favourite game of all time for good reason.

Lego-StarWars? It's kinda sorta like a good co-op game if you're into Legos. :)

Ratchet and Clank: Gladiator is fun.
Killzone, but that isn't in story mode.
Darkwatch is pretty fun too.

Thanks for all your advice! We've bought TimeSplitters: Future Perfect yesterday, and it's pretty fun.
But keep the ideas coming, you can never have too many co-op games :)

I don't think the PS2 has downloadable titles, since it doesn't have a harddisk.

I'd like to get that, but my brother doesn't like it, sadly.

Starwars battle front 1 and 2

Any of the dynasty warrior games or samurai warriors.

Champions of norrah or baldurs gate

X men legends 1 or 2 or marvel ultimate alliance.

Army men air attack 2

Twisted metal black but i highly suggest twisted metal 1 2 3 4 over black but they are all ps1

Gauntlet

Contra shattered solder

The sims busting out or the the sims 2

Any of the conflict games.

Worms 3D

I also suggest theses ps1 games in addition to twisted metal.

Vigilante 8 1 and 2

Hogs of war

War Games

Legend of the mana.

I know I'm forgetting some...  :-\

I recommend the Conflict: games - Desert Storm I and II, Global Storm and Vietnam. They're not technical showcases but they're really great games. You control a squad of guys - sniper, heavy weapons, demo and rifleman - nothing too mind blowing. But you get a huge amount of freedom to approach missions and being creative and resourceful on the battlefield actually pays off. Vietnam is probably the weakest, the Desert Storm games are best. They're my most played co-op games.

list of games
The sims busting out or the the sims 2
...
Worms 3D
more list
Thanks for the list! But I didn't know The Sims 2 had co-op on the PS2. What kind of co-op is it?
And we already own Worms: Forts Under Siege, but don't play it too much.

I recommend the Conflict: games - Desert Storm I and II, Global Storm and Vietnam.
...
Thanks, but those games are relatively old (2003), and since they didn't receive too high ratings, I don't think I could find them in stores anymore.

Guitar Hero would be my recommedation.
It looks like a fun game, but I don't think my brother will like it much. Besides, you'd have to buy two guitars, and that's rather expensive, which is a shame, because I'd really like to play GH together with my brother (although I'd probably suck :P )
