Transformers: Animated (2008)
« on: November 05, 2007, 12:03:41 am »
So me being a Transformer fan is no surprise. But I like the classic show. I don't like the newer ones that much. Anyway so I was looking at Weird Al's IMDB page and noticed something strange.

Transformers: Animated (TV series) - Wreck-Gar (26 episodes)

I instantly recognized the name Wreck-Gar from the 1986 movie. But I know he didn't do the voice, so I was confused. I clicked the link and low and behold. A brand new Transformers series. Going back to original character, even going as far as using some original voices.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1055335/

It's really late, and I have to get to bed. Tomorrow though I am going to look this up and at the moment I'm quite simply like this -->  ;D

I wasn't really a fan, but this looks like a chance to get in on this.
No way dude, you're trolling me.

There are original voices and characters who haven't been seen since Generation 1. Apparently though Optimus is a fire truck? That's what I've heard anyway, so it's yet to be seen if they stick close to their original 80's form.

That would be the only possible way to improve Optimus Prime.
Not a winner anymore.

Hmmm, interesting.
I for one will be glad if this series makes drastic changes to distance itself from the 80s show.

Watching it through the more objective eyes of an adult has made me of the opinion that the original tranformers cartoon is so abominable that it doesn't even possess camp value.
I never really watched the original cartoon so it doesn't hold any nostalgia for me either. All in all, I would consider Transformers to be one of the worst cartoons I've ever seen (well, after Captain Planet).
Note, the above is my opinion only and should not be taken as an aspersion against your cherished childhood memories.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

Hopefully it will also be nothing like those new cartoons.

Sam you butcher me, Captain Planet was a staple cartoon of the early 90's.  This is actually going closer to the original then anything else. The Beasties/ Beast War series was probably the most polar opposite with the .. Armada and Energon (is that right?) being nothing more then transformers for the sake of transformers.

I loved beast wars, and I hated Captain Planet with a passion.

Yeah Beast Wars (Beasties for the other Canadians) was great, Beast Machines on the other hand was a horrible thing which should have never been created.

In my opinion, Beast Wars>Transformers.
