The Oviraptor Challenge
« on: August 19, 2005, 01:29:52 pm »
Okay, here goes. In this game you (anyone) try to best me at my best subject, Geography. Here is how it works, You ask me a question about geogrphy and I have to tell you what the answer is. You may only ask question for which you know the answer, because if I get it wrong, you have to provide the correct answer. I will then double check you just to be sure.

Scoring:

If you ask a question and I get it wrong, you score a point. If you ask a question and I get it right, I score a point.
I will list the top ten people in terms of points who have bested me. I will also list the number of times I have gotten a question wrong and how many times I have gotten a question right.

You may only post one question per day per person. I will answer everyones questions once a day and post the scores then, too. If I answer one wrong, be sure to correct me as soon as possible, so that it is easier for me to acurately post the scores.

And finally, please no super-specific geography, I'm not going to know street names and such. Thank you.

Fire away!

What is the deepest point within twenty miles of the north american coast?
I have been told
not by one but two of my lovers
that I've got a heart of gold
but I'm unable to share it with others
They call me a poet who'll never have a poem
a tiger with no taste for bone
I'm the wonderful wonderful wizard who's waltzing alone

Okay, here I go...

What is the deepest point within twenty miles of the north american coast?

Hmm... I don't really know, so I will guess off the southern Pacific coast of Mexico.

What state is Camelback Mountain in?

I don't really know that one either, although it sounds familiar. I will guess North Carolina.

What country is Canada in? Oh, wait...

Umm... I think I'll ignore this one... unless you want me to score an extra point? ;)

What african nation is land-locked, yet shares its border with only one nation?

Lesotho.

Aren't there 2 of them?

No. (I won't count this one either).

Okay, tell me how I did. I will post scores tomorrow, since technically there aren't any yet.

More questions!

What meme is relevant right now? Look, just imagine I'm riffing on that. Updating signatures is exhausting.
