I'd be careful, I'm in Belgium and I found a tarantula. Damn docks. I live to close to them, all those foreign spiders come to Belgium by boat.

Um... We often see bugs here, you know. Mosquitoes are a major nuisance for me, we can't ever get rid of them.

I'm just seeing X's too, LadyM

Ok, time for an update.  This isn't a cave bug, and it isn't really giant, but oh well.  Maybe this thread should be called Bugs I Find and Kill Sometime after One in the Morning.

(picture)
What is a good sized mosquito doing in my dorm room in October?  This is after I already smashed it once with a plastic cup.  The thing didn't move at all.

(picture)
So I smashed it again until it was nice and flat.  Obligatory Quarter for scale.  Also, the blue and yellow spots are from my roomate painting up for the football games.

That looks like a crane fly to me. They're all over at certain times of the year down here. Used to be terrified of them because as you said they look like giant mosquitoes, but then my parents are like, "Those aren't mosquitoes, they eat mosquitoes, so they're good." And then we always called em skeeter-eaters.

 :)
Yeah, [Kishmond] came back from Africa, but the ponies have him now.

Crane flies don't eat mosquitos. But their larvae eat grass roots, which makes them a pest wherever people value their lawns too much.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

Ew. I didn't know Black Widows had blood. Like, real, red blood. Lots of it too. It's like killing a bloated mosquito. Gross.

Sltlamina, I'm not scared of them, per se.  I just don't want them having free reign of my room while I'm asleep.  That first spider did give me a good surprise, though.
Probably not a Goat, either.

I saw a weird bug in Hungary once. It looked like a big-ass fly with some kind of needle. It suddenly landed on my hand and before I could anything it bit me and flew off. It was definatly not a horsefly bcause I saw a lot of them before and they are WAY smaller.

I used to catch potato bugs when I was little, but I haven't seen one in at least 20 years.  Which is to be expected, considering they're not even supposed to be east of the Rockies.

They don't eat them actually. :(

Maybe she splashed a little ketchup to make it look really nice and graphic.
