Spore Article - PCgamer
« on: September 13, 2007, 11:20:28 am »
Today I bought a german magazine called PCgamer, because there was a Spore article in it. It was a rather big article with many pages.

Here is a list of some of the things, which are confirmed from the article. I'm not entirely sure, which is already confirmed or not:
  • Some weeks before the release of spore there will be a demo of the creature editor.
  • Besides herbivores, carnivores and omnivores, there will be ovivores. The omnivores won't get as much evolution points when eating things as the other ones.
  • The number of offspring is variable.
  • Hats are confirmed!
  • Will Wright doesn't rule a multiplayer version out. (There could be one later.)
  • In the Civilisation stage there will be the option for Gene-Modifications.

There is, of course, a difference between having a laugh with someone, and having a laugh at their expense

Well, if ovivores are added, they could eventually add other ones, like hemothrophs!

Sounds far that omnivores get less evo points for eating as they can eat more stuff.

Exactly what did he say about multiplayer? Would you kindly translate that part?

there's just one sentence:

Quote
Will Wright schließt allerdings nicht aus, dass eine echte Multispielerversion von Spore erscheint.

Translated:

Will Wright doesn't exclude, that there maybe a real multplayerversion of spore.

I allready told about this article, but i didn't think it was worth a new thread.

Did you get a theme-CD with it? There should be a mention of mine and Hydro's Creature Editor in it!

Hmm, perhaps they heard my idea of a multiplayer functionality without compromising the single-player aspect. It'd be neat if they said how it would work in their minds.

Must be for a diet of -only- eggs.
For some reason.

So yeah, I guess the  ??? still kinda stands.

EDIT: Oho, hats too.
I'll bet there are going to be a lot of creatures out there with tophats.

    • Besides herbivores, carnivores and omnivores, there will be ovivores.

In a video i saw a creature eating eggs but it was just a carnivore :-\ it might just be saying that you can eat other eggs, im not too sure ???

From what I've heard, the article can't be 100% accurate. It seemingly states that you can't build ships, but you can construct submarines.   ::) I'll try to find the link, watch this space.

    * Spends a few seconds watching Skyward's avatar *

Why do I suddenly hear in my head The Doors performing "Break on through to the other side" ?

    * Snaps out of his trance *

Can't buid ships ? That can't be right, we've seen ships, both space and sea ones, I think.

Indeed! I haven't found that link, and it's hearsay anyway. :) Living in the Netherlands, I've been looking for it in the shops (they usually feature some foreign magazines) but I haven't found it yet. Maybe Flisch can shed some light on the matter. :)
