Make sure you do not read the book.
You're in my way, sir.

Dude, you're dreaming that you're a pony.  I don't care how good the show is.

It depends how old your child is, and what you're trying to educate him or her in.
If you're just looking for young children's books in general, one of my favorite's has always been "The Carrot Seed". It's a very simple, very short book, but I've always loved it.

Another classic young children's book is "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie":

There's actually a whole series associated with this one. This book is the first, I believe.

Again, these are just suggestions for young children's books, which is what I assume you're looking for. If you've looking for something different or more specific, please say so and we'll try to help.

I'm reading Dune at the moment.

Tough read, but it seems pretty compelling so far.

Christopher Hitchen's memoir, man this guy can write.

As for children's books, The Vey Hungry Catapillar and It Was a Dark and Stormy Night were two of my favourites.
