Birthday present ideas!
« on: August 06, 2007, 03:33:14 am »
Hey,

Well it's less than two months to go before an important milestone for me, and I still have no idea what I'd like to do or receive for it. I was thinking of getting an iPhone, but they don't come out in the UK until Christmas. I was maybe thinking of a laptop instead. Any ideas from would be very welcome!

Thanks!

In my opinion the best present is always money - that way you can choose what to spend it on and you know you won't get anything useless.

How much of that is true?

And I agree with the money thing. Also, I got a laptop..and while it's a REALLY good laptop, it'd probably just be an "ok" to "good" desktop. So, if you aren't gonna be moving it around a bunch, I'd say get a desktop.

This time next year I intend to be in New Zealand, so something which I can carry around with me would be useful... it'll also be good to have a laptop for university.  But I'm in two minds as to whether I should get one now, or wait for new hardware and get a better laptop for the same price next year.

Laptop is a possibility.  Any other ideas?

Funny, I thought this was present ideas for LadyM. Someone just necrobumped her "Happy Birthday" thread from last year.

Well a laptop is always good, that way, you can stay in contact with us.  ;D

Do you have an mp3 player or something similar? That's always a good fallback plan.

Yeah I've got an mp3 player - it's still got plenty of space left and I seldom use it unless I'm on long journeys.  And don't worry... I don't think I could cope for a year without the internet now - I've become so used to having it that I think I'd struggle if suddenly I didn't have access to it!

Subscriptions to all your favourite magazines, if you read any. It's convenient, personal and doesn't need wrapping.

Or go for the wads of cash.
Not a winner anymore.

I only ever read magazines if I'm on the toilet or waiting for a service, like getting my hair cut, etc. so that wouldn't be so useful - nice idea though!
