A Little Game I Made
« on: July 30, 2007, 08:27:58 pm »
So I made a nice little arcade game from scratch in Java and I felt like showing it to the forum. It's nothing very big and definitely buggy, but it's a game I made in my free time to hone my skills, so to speak.

Link

So feel free to criticize/praise me/it, for it will never be fully finished and I guess you could say I'm done with it. Like I said, I didn't focus on playability.

Great start.
It reminds me of Asteroids.

Is is possible to move the ship around?
Maybe slow down the rocks a bit also.
Mapping the shoot button to the space bar might work a bit better too.

Also, there's something odd about how the final score is printed;
it seems to repeat the number a few times.

Anyway, looks good so far.

No, you can't move the ship, which I think is in the vein of the original asteroids. And yea they move pretty fast sometimes but hey, it's supposed to be a challenge.

And the high score most definitely does not work correctly.

To quote God's Last Message to Humanity, "Sorry for the Inconvenience."

MUSHROOM MUSHROOM! A SNAKE! A SNAKE! OH NO! A SNAKE!

I found that in Grade 5. Good Try though. I don't know what you were trying to pull, but if this is one of those tests to see if I have a soul, I don't.

Also, it the jar creates a text file called "score" in it's directory.

Yea, I was unaware of more sophisticated methods to "save" things, so really you can mod out your high score table, I guess.
