Hello All,

This is Patrick from Will Wright’s “Stupid Fun Club” in Berkeley informing you of a very special fundraising party on Friday August 10th for Bill Pullman’s (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000597/) new play Expedition 6.  Expedition 6 explores the political and personal life-and-death crisis of these two astronauts and cosmonaut onboard the International Space Station (ISS) during the outbreak of the Iraq War and the Columbia Shuttle Disaster. Bill uses a company of eight actors and low-flying trapezes in a play about peace, humanity, earth and space. His play will be performed at Magic Theatre in San Francisco September 8 to October 7.  The fundraising will come from the party ticket price, which is $250.00 and is tax deductible.

Now you may be thinking to yourselves, “Wait Patrick that sounds cool and all, I mean I like space stuff, but why are you posting this in a gaming forum?”  Well my friends there will also be an opportunity to meet and interact with Will Wright as he does an exclusive Spore demonstration.   Have questions for him?  Want to see it in person and you couldn’t get to E3 or TED ?  Here is your once in a life time chance.

Other notable party events will be:

•   Apollo 9 Astronaut Rusty Schweickart
•   Bill Nye The Science Guy
•   Weightlessness demonstrations will be shown by the actors in Bill Pullman’s Expedition 6.  Think trapeze.
•   Catered food and drinks by Picante. (http://www.yelp.com/biz/x_8JAuZLXfcI1SJlgOcZ6g)
•   Space pinball machines by Lucky JuJu Pinball Palace will be here in their special, space age trailer. No need for quarters.
•   Robotic appliances: Try to get a drink from Mr. Cool, the refrigerator with artificial intelligence.
•   Film: Special previews of unreleased films starring Bill Pullman – never before shown to an audience.
•   Soviet space craft control panels, space suits, helmets etc. This is the real stuff! Have YOU ever touched the landing control for the Soyuz space craft?
•   Meet Moonbot, the party robot, as seen on YouTube.

Nothing is guaranteed, but we’re expecting to have even more fun things.

Cool! Too bad I don't live in the States. Good luck raising funds, this is a good place to find people who are interested!

I'd be careful with this folks, before you hand over your money.  It certainly looks legitimate, but legitimacy is not very hard to fake.  (Remember Sporno and the "release date conspiracy"?)  A detailed list of events, a link to Bull Pulman's imdb page, a catering company's page, and a page with a picture of Will Wright that links to a pay site asking for $250, doesn't prove anything.

Sounds to me like someone wants our money.

He could be a hokey member of said club, however.

P.S. What was mentioned precisely?

I know the Stupid Fun Club is legit.  In fact, I'm a member of the Stupid Fun Club.  And if you give me $250, I'll also let you meet Will Wright!!  (Do you believe me?)

It may very well be completely legit.  I'm just urging caution.  If I wanted to make some quick money, ripping off a bunch of Spore fanatics, desparate to meet Will Wright, would be a very good idea.

And if you are genuine Mr. Patrick, sorry for being paranoid of your motives. We've had a history of attacks on this community similar to promotions like this. I hope we can settle this sooner by confirmation from Steve or one of the Moderators.

(Remember Sporno and the "release date conspiracy"?)

I've talked to Sporno personally when he was still around. He was rather genuine, he was just hoping to shake EA into pushing the release of Spore. He had no intention to hurt us personally, but unintentionally did so anyways in the process.

The test can be simple. If he can convince Will Wright to post in this thread with his account, I will buy a ticket. If he is in the Stupid Fun Club, getting Will to post just one measely "Yes this is real" shouldn't be an issue.  Wink
