The Versavol

Strange and enigmatic, the Versavol are a race of squid-like beings from a galaxy not far from Imperial territory. Said to have originated on a planet with an extremely dense atmosphere, the Versavol are easily capable of swimming through the air. The Versavol strongly believe in a philosophy which they call the "Way of Verso." According to this philosophy, pink is the greatest color of all and one must be mostly, if not completely, pink in order to achieve perfection in all of the arts.

Several billion years ago, the Versavol suddenly gained extremely advanced space technology and began to expand their influence across the galaxy, and eventually the galaxies surrounding it. It is during this time that the Versavol, now possessing the technologies and resources necessary to construct starships, were said to have begun their grandest project of all, the "Grand Coloration."

Using their starships, they began to literally paint everything with the color pink. First, they started with planets, which they turned to pink by sprinkling them with pink-colored, self-replicating chemicals. They then moved on to stars, whose internal reactions they altered to make them emit a pinkish glow, much to the dismay of the systems' non-Versavol inhabitants. And finally, they topped off each galaxy by placing a pink-colored starship at the center of each one.

As time went on, the other inter-galactic empires finally began to take notice of the Versavols' actions. However, due to an alliance agreement signed by the Versavol's High Emperor and "Their" ambassador, the Versavol gained greater military strength than ever before and it just became harder to stop, or even reason, with their civilization.

Because of this and their zealous "pink supremacy" ideologies, they are often dealt with both ridicule and disgust in the inter-galactic community.

"Them" Warfare 101

"Them" Civilians

These are "Them" who are not particularly affiliated with the military. These are the ones who focus more on galaxy management and the ever growing black market.

Another thing to note is that "Their" size can vary wildly from individual to individual. The smallest ones are the size of modern skyscrapers like the Burj Dubai, while the largest ones are the size of minor planets like Charon. However, it is good to remember that one's size does not always correspond to their rank in society, although civilians are usually smaller than military officers.

"Them" Generals

These guys are the ones who call the shots on individual military operations. They are, as their name suggests, the most high-ranking officers in "Their" military. Unlike civilian "Them," who are more interested in proxy wars and the inter-galactic market, Generals are drawn more into the ideal of military conquest.

Each General is assigned his own fleet, which always contains a single carrier. They usually command the fleet inside the carrier's main bridge but may sometimes drop themselves in the very middle of the battle in order to fulfill their desire for violence. All generals have a private artificial planet inside their carrier.

Also, the usual starting rank for all of "Them" who join the military is General. All other ranks below General are filled in by Dronels and slave races. Vassal races have their own military hierarchies.

Generals are the same rank as Terran-Ixian Corps Commanders.

Dronels are all purpose drones used widely throughout "Their" Empire. Initially created as prototypes for the Terran Project, they have since been turned into all purpose units used mainly as maintenance personnel in slave worlds, frontline infantry in both small and large scale conflicts and ship personnel in "Their" Empire's fleets.

Dronels can also vary in size. Some can be as small as a man while some as large as a small office building. They do this via their maximization program, which is their only major program other than their particle beams.

A very big weakness of Dronels is their weak armor compared to the Terran races. Unlike The Terrans, Dronels can easily be destroyed even by primitive weapons like 19th century handguns. Another weakness of Dronels is that computer-wise, they are very competent, but when it comes to things not related to computers, like say writing an essay, they have the intellectual capacity of a four year old.

However, despite these shortcomings, they still have one quality that makes them relevant to this day.

They have strength in numbers. Massive numbers. They are easily mass produced as they have an extremely simple design and their computer systems are more primitive than that of the Terrans. Some "Them" generals have even been known to produce them on the spot. They are very cost effective, especially when charting unknown territory where accidents usually happen. All in all, a very useful unit, especially if they are very high in numbers.

It is important to note, however, that dronels do not posses true life and are merely non-sapient drones.

While not necessarily a physical creature but rather an active network of distorted space, they are still as useful as any other species in "Their" gallery of minions. Hand woven on the spot by "Them," they are quick and easy to build and act as spies and sentries that are used primarily to spy on enemy ships and sabotage them if necessary.

They are invisible on all spectra, however the do produce very minute, almost unnoticeable, vibrations in space. And thus, Anyone can detect these vibrations, directly or indirectly, via their senses or any kind of sensory equipment able to sense distortions in space, as is the case with the guy at the very left.

It should be noted that they are immune to physical harm as they have no physical body. However, they are easily disintegrated by vibrations in space stronger than what they can withstand, usually by getting shot by highly space-distorting weapons, moving too close to FTL drives or coming in contact with industrial-level forcefields.

Galactic Subjugation Tactics

"They" have different strategies in subduing galaxies, depending on the general and on the situation at hand. Below are the most common approaches that they use in attacking galaxies.

Experimental Approach

The experimental approach is used to gather data about a specific galaxy, or a race within it, and not the outright subjugation of it. It has the following phases:

     Phase 1: Seeding Phase:

During this phase, "They" seed the target galaxy with a non-sentient species whose neural networks are subconsciously connected to an off-galaxy relay station, which then transmits the data gathered to "Them" HQ where the data is stored.

     Phase 2: Uplift Phase:

During this phase, the seeded species is uplifted to sentience via indirect means, usually through the use of remotely induced genetic mutations. They are then allowed to develop into a space-faring civilization. Usually, "They" give the species technological assistance by dropping Type-4 technology on their planet.

     Phase 3a: Cultivation Phase:

During this phase, the seeded species is subconsciously urged by "Them" to interact with other races in the galaxy. This can be through wars, peace alliances or trading. Whatever method is used, it all ends with the seeded species spreading throughout the galaxy and forming or becoming a member of a noticeable galactic alliance.

     Phase 3b: Specific Interaction Phase:

An alternative to Phase 3a, it is just like the latter, except when this one is used, the seeded specie's interaction is almost or completely directed towards one specific target only. This could be an alliance or a single race, depending on what the situation requires. This is usually used when "They" want to know more about a race but don't want to or can't observe them directly.

     Phase 4: Formulation Phase:

Using all the data gathered in the experiment, "They" are able to formulate a general idea of how all the species interact with each other and therefore, allow them to build the best strategy with dealing with their intended target.

     Phase 5: Clean-up Phase:

All good scientists know how to clean after themselves. "They" are no different.

After the experiment, "They" usually follow up with a general sweep through the galaxy. During the sweep, a fleet of "Their" ships invade the galaxy head-on and subjugate all profitable worlds. All non-profitable races, along with their worlds, are then "discarded."

If the seeded species accepts "Them," they will be allowed to live as one of their minions. However, if they ever deny the offer, their light will also be extinguished.

*This phase is usually not employed when Phase 3b is used instead of Phase 3a. In such a case, the seeded species is usually just wiped out through non-suspicious ways, like forcing them to start a war they can't win.

Common Approach

"They" usually do this approach on galaxies with no prior knowledge of "Them." The objective of this approach is to convert the target galaxy into a slave colony for use in the inter-galactic black market. It has three phases:

     Phase 1: Introduction Phase:

During this phase, "They" introduce themselves as benevolent beings and help the galaxy advance. This is to gain their trust.

     Phase 2: Constriction Phase:

During this phase, "They" start enacting laws or rules that may seem to benefit the galaxy, but are actually used to weaken their ability to fight back. An example of this is the law that forbids the formation of private military forces.

     Phase 3: Herding Phase:

During this phase, "They" unleash a full scale assault on the now dependent galaxy. Most races surrender while those that do not are exterminated. Almost, if not all forms of culture are removed, thus turning all subjugated races into herds of sheeple, ready for private use and for purchase at the black market.

*This is what "They" did to the Orealyians. Which is why some Orealyianis are quite a bit PO'd by races who establish protectorates for ulterior purposes.

Direct Approach

This is used primarily on galaxies occupied by the rebellion and their allies. Using this approach, "They" send several fleets into the galaxy and attack the enemies head-on. Their forces are usually divided into three groups.

     Group 1:

This is used to pierce deep into the galaxy. Their main objective is not to destroy the enemy but to divide their attention into several, vastly spread out fronts.

     Group 2:

This is used to soften the enemy's defenses by acting as cannon fodder. They follow up to the first group and establish a more stable set of fronts. This group is usually the weakest, but most numerous of all.

     Group 3:

This is the "real" invasion force. It is used to deal the crippling blow to the galaxy in particular. It's main objective is to reach the galactic center and establish a stable source of energy in that area. They will then be able to summon reinforcements directly from HQ.

When the enemies are eliminated, "They" use the galaxy for whatever purpose they have in mind.

Ship on Ship Strategies

When encountering enemy fleets, "They" usually use the hundreds of millions of destroyers stored inside "Their" carriers to continuously pound the enemy and hinder their movements. At the same time, they also create hyperlinks which "Their" minions use to enter the inside of enemy ships.

When "They" see that swarming their opponent is not enough, which is what usually happens when they encounter the rebellion's forces, Generals authorize the use of the carrier's main cannon, a weapon capable of destroying entire starships in a single direct hit at the cost of consuming much of the carrier's energy.

It is also not uncommon to see the generals "Themselves" entering the bowels of starships and destroying it from within. Especially when they are dealing with the rebellion.

The Terran Language
« Reply #155 on: April 11, 2009, 02:40:34 am »
The Terran Language: Alphabet and Markers

The Terran races all share a single language. Some may prefer to use it orally while some may prefer to use it via other means like telecommunication. In whatever medium a Terran may use for communication, in the end it doesn't even matter.~ Because they all still use the same language.

The Terran language is constructed from several sets of symbols which are known to us Earth-people as "characters." These characters are usually used in pairs or in threes in order to form syllables, though one-character syllables are also quite common. The characters can also be classified into several types: "vowel-types," "consonant-types," "marker-types" and "numerical-types." numbers will be discussed in a separate chapter.

Vowel-types are characters which are usually placed in the middle of syllables. They give further flexibility to the Terran language by giving the consonant-types certain accents. Though, a lone vowel-type is also used, especially when talking about data sheets, like statistical information. These lone vowel-types are usually connected to "Terminators" in each of its ends (will be discussed below).

Consonant-types compose the main bulk of the Terran language. They are usually more solid compared to vowel-types, though there are several consonant-types that have almost the same properties as vowel-types and are only classified as consonant-types because of their usual position in syllables. A good thing to note about consonant-types is that the position of these characters inside a syllable may affect how it is oriented, as in the case of a consonant-type that is put at the end of a syllable, wherein it's appearance shall be reversed in order to connect with the character before it.

Marker-types are characters that are usually placed at the end of sentences to emphasize it's meaning. Above are the marker-types usually used in everyday use.

Connectors have the same use as hyphens in our language. Terminators are used in the end, beginning or end and beginning of a syllable in order to denote that it is the end of that syllable. This usually happens when either end of a syllable is not composed of a consonant-type or the consonant-type is all alone. :'( Declaratives are used to end sentences with the objective of conveying a story. Interrogatives are used to end sentences with the objective of asking a question. And exclamatories are used to end sentences with the objective of conveying strong emotions.

When considering oral communication, each character in the Terran language has a specific sound attached to it, though in other mediums other variables are used. Still, take note that the charts above are only as close an approximation as the Terran language can get to our language.

Glad you guys liked it! ;D Though, I really have to give kudos to you Jack, since your writing system really gave me a lot of inspiration inspiration. 8) :)

Though, that doesn't mean I didn't get some inspiration too from Kitkat and Omega. ;)

Though, in the end, I really love Wexxian writing the most! ;D

Hopefully, I'll be able to post their number system by next week. :)

I think the Terran-Ixians are super awesome, just the fact that they are artificial life forms is awesome.

The above video, plus an extremely able body and mind, is probably one way of learning how to conjure up basic programs without relying on high-end technology.
