TV / A Song of Ice and Fire, the TV show
« on: February 23, 2007, 08:05:37 am »
Couldn't help but notice nobody else mentioned this, but George R. R. Martin's awesome A Song of Ice and Fire novel series had been optioned by HBO to be made into a TV series.

I'm pretty excited, I think it definately has potential, even if there's hardly any chance of it being made within the next 2 or three years.  George has stated in the past he wouldn't be against the idea of his books being made into movies, with the stipulation that in order to do it correctly, they would have to split each book into 3 movies like they did with LotR.  While that seems excessive (especially since there will possibly be eight books in the series, and possibly more if he splits more up like he did with A Feast for Crows) he justifies it by saying that each of his books is about as long as Lord of the Rings is.

This may be an excellent middle ground, people will get to see the series made visual, and it can be as long as GRRM wants it to be (or as long as HBO will allow him to make it).

Any thoughts or gripes?

Edit:  I just noticed GRRM's news page, too:  12 hours per book...  SWEET.

I had a discussion with a few of my friends about this a while back, and they seemed to agree that my theme song was probably the Back to the Future theme song...  That was about 4 or 5 years ago though, so I'm not sure if it has changed or not.

The problem with that is that I only have dial up and the fastest I've ever seen it go was 26.4kbps.  I doubt it would be very good for this...  As I said I'm trying to get broadband, so we'll see what happens.

The first part will be the hard part.  Broadband isn't really available in my area, and the one company that I've found hasn't replyed yet, but I'm gonna keep trying.

That reminded me of 'lil brudder from home star runner.  It was kinda sad the way he just flopped to the ground.

Here's a good one:
Kinda long winded, but very interesting.

If that wasn't funny enough to keep it on topic, then this one will help.
Real-Life StarCraft.

Ducks die when Canadians come running to ponder for horny an alien that sat in pudding of Ramen Noodles while you poke it. So that alien take the book from hell gate one hundred keys jingled in area 51. Where a radioactive crystal lived on someone’s lifting bacon fries in your kitchen floor during breakfast and it burned my Lesser toe-being from HEEELLLLLLL. So I climb down the manhole of Hell to grab my foot in the essence of Evil Bacon, for Damned Zombie do Donuts of Good Faith pee and aliens come in to give some info about Spore kittens to Marshmallows and God said, "two people will born and send the word into World Of wonders."  Walt Disney is dead like my pineapple-shaped cat poop that fall on the guy that was walking into street of death and doom.  Eating a box of chocolate hearts during a game of checkers while the apocalypse of time goes hunting the edge maze of mind control eye.  So the mutant ate waffles and maple tree sap spilt down on a floor, that was green candy from the underworld and pancake mix.  After LadyM leave the pajamas Punk on the bed while a bird was flying over canada.  She didn't call home until she went to black concrete bench and trees filled with red apples, that ridge racer vomited on the mailman doing some jumping over the hedge scraping to knees and behind of his tree that grabbed an elephant by Myiamoto's mom.  On blue ocean dogs pop-tart that exploded corousivly along a mono-molecular chicken.  Robot which watched me licking destructive radioactive Pringles lustfully.  Gayfully they pissed gleefully with a Eragon brand jello with mushy filling inside.  Bill O'Reilly loved to dance!  Beep said hungrily, "Let's consummate NOW!  After the break."  So, what the devil is dead around noon.

I just FINALLY got mine yesterday.  I live in Maine, so I figured the initial numbers would be low, but I didn't think I would have to wait 4 weeks and live through 3 wii-bacles (as me and my brother called them) AND have to wait in a line from 1:00AM till 8:00AM to get one.

I first tried to get one on launch day.  Wal-Mart told me on the Friday before that they would have wiis on Sunday and would open at 7AM.  I showed up at 7:15 or so ('cause it was a small "city" I figured not many people would actually show up to get one first thing on launch day) and, to my surprise, they had opened at midnight and sold all their wiis right away (they had gotten 20 and 20 people had been in line at midnight).  That was wii-bacle number one.  There were two more after that, but I won't go into detail on those.  It will have to suffice for me to say that I was too late on both instances.

With the new-found knowledge that people are insane, I concocted a clever scheme to ensure victory in my quest for the wii.  It involved staying awake for 6 hours in below-freezing temperatures to stand outside a Toys r Us and wait for them to open, and grab a wii.  While there were several times I thought my toes might fall off, or at least start decaying, I was able to not only stay awake, but stand for most of the 6 hours until the store opened at 8 AM.  Sweet was the taste of victory in my mouth.  Sweet it was to see the other people who had showed up in line between 6 and 8 get turned away because they had only received 7 wiis.  Sweet it is to be able to go home and play Zelda on my very own machine.

I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm rubbing it in to those who don't yet have one.  For those who have to wait until Christmas to play yours, or don't have enough money right now, I feel for you, but I also feel as though I have earned a bit of revelry.

The thing is, it won't be a cheat to create any creature you want, once you get past natural selection you can just make any outrageous creature you want with the ufo and put it in a non-competition environment(i.e. a planet to itself or in your zoo). At least I hope you can  :)

My first post.  Seems like longer ago than that.
