hell yeah! I loved this game, as well as all other Bullfrog games.
Magic Carpet was one of my dad's favourite games.

I even remember when my mate introduced me to syndicate wars, I think i was about 14 at the time.
Have you got a link to where I can download it?

You can get it from http://www.the-underdogs.org

It's abandonware now.

Didn't the Metal Gear series originate on Nintendo?

If so, definitely Metal Gear.

For the record, I am 17.

Some people thought I was 30 or something...

You do check profiles... right?

 ;D

Hey man, where is your icon from? I vaguely remember that game...

Books / Re: Recommend any books?

Starship Troopers - R Hienlien (the movie had almost nothing to do with the book)
Rogue Warrior - Richard Marchinko (the building of the conuter-terrorist Navy Seals) ignore the rest of the series though only the first has any basis in fact.

I loved Starship Troopers - that book is a masterpiece. Pretty much all of Heinlein's works were awesome - also consider checking out Philip K Dick and (obviously) William Gibson, Bruce Sterling and Neal Stephenson.

Anybody remember Syndicate Wars?

It's such a pity Bullfrog went under. They had so many great games. Magic Carpet, Populous and The Syndicate series (Syndicate, Syndicate Wars) were awesome.

Syndicate Wars is probably my favorite game of all time - a bleak cyberpunk dystopic filled with ambience, cyborg agents and a terrorist cult...

I wish someone would make a modern version. Thankfully we can download SWARS from Underdogs or Abandonia.

Who did you prefer to play as? Eurocorp Syndicate or the Church of the New Epoch?

Everything Else / Re: What continent do you live in?
« on: February 01, 2006, 04:20:03 pm »

I think it depends on where you live (some countries have different official names for things). Personally, I prefer to call Australia and all the Pacific islands Oceania, maybe that's just me.

No, it doesn't. The region is referred to as Oceania, but the Continent is Australia. The islands are not continents.

I don't want to get into a debate about this. In my opinion, islands are included in continents (Like Greenland is, geographically, part of North America, in my opinion). I am not going to say you're wrong, I'm just saying my definition of a continent is different than yours.

Edit: if you define a continent strictly as a single landmass, I would agree with you, but that is not my definition.

Fair enough.

I feel the need to point out that there is no such continent as 'Australasia'. The continent is 'Australia'. It's the only country in the world that is both a continent and a country.

I know this because I'm Australian  ;)

Wow, I didn't quite see this coming! It seems like we will never be able to escape the Star Wars universe. And now we can watch it twice a week at home on TV! Here is the info:
.

He's filming it here in Sydney. News of this came out in Australia not long after Episode III premiered

I wonder if he is going to use the opportunity to explore the character of Boba Fett more, and maybe we'll see Han back when he was training at the Imperial Academy?
