Infinity is a space MMO in early development. http://www.fl-tw.com/Infinity/index.php
It uses procedural generation to create the game universe, and with this technique, it contains 100000000000 stars with unique planets, also generated procedurally.
The planets are really big, it would take years to walk around them on foot( If there would be walking option), an they have procedural cities with thousands of buildings, and millions of people.

to me it looks like the cursor i think
maybe... but its not on every picture tough.
I think this is a fireing cursor, the symbol looks like a rocket.

Becouse friday is the last day, and if you are not a big fan, you don't have to check it hourly, at friday, everything will be on the site.

"Venture onto land" could also mean venture onto land from the sea, it is one of the goals(if there is no underwater civ.).
As WW said there is a chance of cutting out, so they didn't want to advertise the word "underwater" until it is sure
